ON=CALL ENCINEEHINe SERVICES
Walor HQeOUNee —QpNon A
Task 8: Utility Research and Design Survey - Tetra Tech will conduct as -built and utility
research within the project area. The utility research will include contacting USA, and sending
preliminary notice to each utility company within the project area. Tetra Tech will verify the
location of the utilities based on the USA information by a field walk of the alignment. Tetra Tech
will identify any critical utilities which are recommended to be potholed. We will prepare a
memorandum summarizing the pothole recommendations for the City review and approval. For
this sample project, we are assuming that five (5) utilities for the sewer main may be necessary
to be performed to confirm the vertical alignment of the sewer. We do not recommend potholing
for the PVC water main, The potholing subconsultant will procure the necessary permits,
including preparation of typical traffic control plan (not a site -specific traffic control plan),
Field topographic survey will be performed for the existing well site, area Immediately around
the existing well site Including the adjacent streets. The field topographic survey will include
curbs, gutters, medians, light poles, Improvements, surface breaklines, ramps, above ground
facilities, utility manholes and pull boxes and the dipping of sewer and storm drain manholes.
cur survey subconsultant will provide a field survey profile over the proposed sewer pipeline at
50-foot Int,ervais. This is similar to what we have done previously for other sewer replacement
projects.
Task 3: Geoteehnioaf Recommendations - Due to the potential of encountering ground water . .
during the construction of the proposed sewer main, we are recommending a geotechnlcal
investigation be performed during the design phase of the work. We have assumed a total of
three (3) borings for the pipeline work, One of the borings can be located at the existing well site
if a new building is required for the chlorination facilities, The .cost difference between doing one
boring verses three borings is minimal and the additional data will only ensure that the
contractor bidding on the project leas the necessary information to bid the project, We have
assumed the following: field exploration can be performed during the daylight hours on
weekdays under a no charge City excavation permit; identification, handling and treatment of
materials that need to be environmentally addresses are beyond our scope of work; and the
removal of USA markings is not Included in our scope of work. In addition, we have assumed
that typical traffic control plans will be acceptable to the City and site specific traffic control plans
will not be required,
Task 4: Well Assessment . Richard C. Slade & Associates (RCS), as a subconsultant to ,tetra
Tech, will perform the following scope of work:
• Review available well data (both historic and current). Perform a site visit.
• Prepare tochnical specification and bid form for the City to contract with a well rehabilitation
company for the preliminary investigation of the well. This work will include: conducting an
initial short-term pumping test; removal of pump, sound bottom of casing and perform a
down -well survey.
• Provide support/assistance to the City during the preliminary investigation work at the well.
• Prepare Technical Specifications for the rehabilitation of the well, including probable cost for
the rehabilitation work. Also, prepare a memorandum discussing the estimated lower
production capacity of the well based on a new casing liner.
• Perform field monitoring of the well rehabilitation construction (this is an optional task).
This Optional Task includes the following: attend pre -construction meeting; observe the
removal of the pump on a full-time basis; support during well surveys; monitor the brushing
and bailing of the well (two days); observe the casing liner Installation on a part-time basis;
monitor the mechanical and chemical development on a full-time basis; monitor the
swabbing and airlifting on a full-time basis; observe the video surveys; present during the
C11y aP.Santo Ana -13, TETRA TECH
