Phase 0 (zero) Is the time between the conditional job offer and the employee starting <br />the new hire orientation academy. Certain prerequisites are necessary for the trainee to <br />begin prior to their first day in the academy. These are requirements of federal, state, or <br />local government and must be completed before the trainee is eligible to work in the <br />field, Care expects these requirements to be completed prior to starting the academy <br />and .is considered part of the conditions for employment. <br />Phase ti includes ICS 100, ICS 200, IS 700 and 1S 800. These courses can be found at <br />FEMA.gov. In addition to the FEMA courses, employees will be required to complete <br />their LA County accreditation class. The employee must aiso have an Ambulance <br />Driver's License issued by the State of CA. It is expected the Ambulance Driver's <br />License will be obtained prior to Day 1 of the academy. If the employee experiences <br />delays in processing by the DMV, the employee can complete Phase 1 and Phase 2 of <br />the FTEP, but cannot complete Phase 3 until the Ambulance Drivers License is <br />submitted to Care Ambulance. The trainee will complete all courses and submit proof of <br />the completed classes on day 1 of the academy. <br />Phase 1 <br />Phase 1 (one) is the new hire orientation/academy. The goat of the academy is to cover <br />the didactic material and physical skills necessary to be successful in the field as an <br />EMS provider for Care Ambulance. The academy will include classroom, ePCR <br />computer skills lab, clinical operational skills labs, and driver training. Trainees will <br />complete Phase 1 when they successfully pass the academy exit exam. The exam will <br />test familiarity with the content of the academy. If the trainee fails the exam, remedial <br />training may be offered at the discretion of the Training Manager and the opportunity to <br />retest. <br />The orientation/academy program is taught by our Training Managers with the <br />assistance of the Training Supervisors who maintains written documentation throughout <br />the process. The Training Supervisors report to the Training Manager who oversees the <br />Training Department. <br />The following is an overview of the areas that are covered in Phase 1 (one) is the new <br />hire orientation/academy: <br />• Company Overview and introductions <br />• Care Ambulance Service HIPAA Policy, Feick USA Corporate Ethics & <br />Compliance Program and Falck USA Employee Handbook <br />• Personnel Files (sign required forms and review job description) <br />• Customer Service <br />• Patient Lifting and Movement <br />• Gurney Operations <br />• Equipment Familiarization <br />• Radio Procedures <br />• Assisting the Paramedic <br />• Patient Restraints <br />• CPR/AED <br />• Mapping (Thomas Bros, & District Maps) Orange, Los Angeles and Riverside <br />Counties <br />• Quality Improvement <br />14 <br />
