4 OC Human Relations <br />ul itite our e.rPei tile- Yoarlee with ws Share our passion <br />OC Human Relations will focus on targeting two segments of Santa Ana's population- <br />HOA/Ne€ghborhood Associations, and landlords/apartment managers. While the training will <br />emphasize the same communication and conflict resolution skills regardless of audience, the context of <br />each training will be tailored for the particular group attending the training so that they can better <br />appreciate the value of utilizing theses skills In their day-to-day interactions. <br />Each training will provide an in-depth training that will include skill development, awareness and tools <br />for managing conflict in a constructive and positive manner. This basic training focuses on educating <br />individuals about cultural perceptions, bias, and conflict escalation, and provides specific skills to <br />manage conflict constructively and effectively. <br />Each full training will consist of the following five two-hour sessions (Each training will be capped at 30 <br />participants): <br />1) UnderstandingConflict <br />onflict <br />• Exploring conflict styles <br />• Conflict perceptions and personal truths <br />• Navigating the Cycle of Conflict <br />2) Lis%eninrz to understand <br />• Communication roadblocks <br />• Active Listening <br />• Using Open-ended questions to learn more <br />3) Expressinz without alienatine <br />• Pausing to reflect <br />• Addressing feelings & emotions <br />• Using I -Statements <br />4) Using_ Structured Dialogue for challpngine discytssions <br />• Practicing structured dialogues <br />• Using mediation for extra support <br />5) Avoldina Bias <br />• Culturalldentity <br />0 Exploring personal biases <br />• Strategies to avoid bias <br />B) Monthly outreach and Short Information Sessions ($1,000) OC Human Relations staff member(s) will <br />work with City Staff to provide up to one conflict Resolution outreach event per month.
