C. Effect of Extended Sick Leave on Vacation Accrual <br />Absence on sick leave or unpaid leave for a period in excess of fifteen (15) <br />consecutive calendar days shall not be considered as service time for vacation <br />accrual purposes. <br />D. Impact of Promotion or Transfer on Vacation Accrual <br />In the event a unit employee accepts another City position outside of this bargaining <br />unit, their length of service in this unit will be used in determining eligibility for <br />vacation accrual. <br />Length of service in this unit will be calculated at a rate ofpoint seventy-five (0.75) <br />per each year of full-time service. <br />8.3 Use of Vacation <br />A. Use of Vacation in First Year <br />On or after the first (I ') day of the month following completion of six (6) months <br />of continuous service, an employee may be allowed to take all or a proportionate <br />fraction of his/her earned vacation, subject to scheduling approval of the <br />employee's supervisor. <br />B. Rate of Usage <br />Vacation time off may be taken in increments as small as one-half (0.5) hour, ecith <br />fractional usage rounded upward to the next higher multiple of one-half (0.5) hour. <br />C. Time of Usage <br />The time at which an employee shall take his/her vacation shall be determined by <br />the Department Head, with due regard for the wishes of the employee and particular <br />regard for operational needs. <br />8.4 Computation of Vacation <br />A.
