ARTICLE X <br />10.0 EMPLOYEE INSURANCE BENEFITS <br />10.1 Medical Health Insurance <br />A. Health Plans <br />The City contracts with the California Public Employees Retirement System <br />(CalPERS) for the provision of health insurance per the Public Employees' Medical <br />and Hospital Care Act (PEMHCA). <br />The City shall make contributions toward the payment of medical health insurance <br />premiums for employees and their eligible dependents enrolled in a medical health <br />insurance plan offered through CalPERS. <br />The City may choose to offer new medical health plans, other than CalPERS, if <br />they will provide substantially similar or improved coverage and benefits. <br />B. Contributions <br />I . The City's monthly contribution for medical health insurance shall be based on <br />the plan coverage chosen by the employee. The City shall contribute seventy- <br />five percent (75%) of the City's contribution allotted to full-time SEIU <br />represented employees for health insurance premium costs for up to the family <br />(employee and all dependents) coverage. <br />This amount is inclusive of the CalPERS statutory minimum amount which <br />CalPERS determines and publishes each year. <br />2. Any contribution necessary to maintain benefits under said medical health plans <br />in excess ofthe amounts set forth above shall be borne entirely by the employee. <br />C. Medical Waiver Option <br />An employee who has primary coverage under another noo-City sponsored group <br />medical health plan and voluntarily waives, in writing, their City paid medical <br />health insurance coverage shall receive a cash payment each month in an amount <br />equal to seventy-five percent (75%) of the amount allotted to full-time SEIU <br />represented employees on a medical waiver, which is based on the monthly <br />premium for the City's lowest cost single "employee only" medical health plan. <br />If an employee opts out of medical insurance, he/she must be able to demonstrate <br />to the City's satisfaction that he/she has minimum essential coverage, as defined by <br />2019-2022 MOU City of Santa Ana & SEW Part -Time Civil Service Employees Unit e 47 04k <br />F?
