Butier <br />was selected to provide Owner's Engineer services for the construction of the <br />50 MGD seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant at the Encina Power <br />Station (EPS). The scope also included the construction of a 2.5-million <br />gallon cast -in -place concrete water storage tank; product pump station; and <br />conveyance pipeline to deliver the drinking water produced by the project to <br />water utilities and municipalities in San Diego County. The 10-mile, 54-inch <br />railroad using a lack and bore tunnel method. Butier coordinated closely <br />with the City of Carlsbad, SDCWA, SDG&E, Poseidon, and the Coastal <br />Commission during the construction of the tunnel option across Macario <br />Canyon. The pipeline alignment included over 6,000 feet of tunnels <br />performed by four different tunneling subcontractors. One of the tunnels was <br />over 1,700 linear feet, 30 feet below sea level, and required a vertical shaft <br />over 80 feet in height. <br />Pipeline Inspector, 20'11 Retail Zone Water Distribution System <br />Improvements, Crawford Canyon Road, Barrett Lane, Fairhaven, Carmel <br />Way and Maynard Way (East Orange County Water District)—Butier <br />provided construction management and inspection services for the <br />replacement of 2,900 feet of 1950s-era 8" and 12" steel pipeline prior to the <br />resurfacing of four streets in the District. <br />Pipeline Inspector, Perris Valley Pipeline; Riverside, CA; Metropolitan <br />Water District of Southern California (Value: $80 million) —Inspector for <br />the construction management of this $80-million pipeline project, which <br />provides water reliability and quality benefits to western Riverside County. <br />The Perris Valley Pipeline has enhanced the water delivery capacity of <br />MWD's Henry J. Mills Water Treatment Plant by up to 150 million gallons per <br />day, helping meet retail, municipal, and industrial demands in the region. <br />Construction consisted of 6.5 miles of 96-inch treated water pipeline; four <br />service connections from the pipeline; and four pump stations. <br />
