<br />❖ Failure to comply with federal software piracy statuses forbidding the copying of licensed computer programs.
<br />Inappropriate use of cell phones or other electronic devices. All electronic devices must be turned off while in the
<br />classroom and clinical sites.
<br />Audio or video recording of any class or lecture offered at the college or its externship/practicum, clinical, or fieldwork
<br />sites is not permitted, unless otherwise allowed on an individual basis due to an accommodation under the Americans
<br />with Disabilities Act.
<br />Physical abuse, verbal abuse, intimidation, harassment, coercion, stalking, or any conduct that threatens or endangers
<br />the physical or psychological health/safety of another person.
<br />S• Rape, including acquaintance rape and/or sexual assault, in any form.
<br />Unauthorized presence in/or forcible entry into a college facility or college -related premises.
<br />All forms of gambling.
<br />S Being in the presence of or aiding/abetting any of the conduct violations.
<br />A student found responsible for involvement in any of the violations listed above may be sanctioned accordingly. Sanctions
<br />range from a written letter of reprimand up to immediate dismissal from the college. For nursing students, the conduct
<br />process is outlined in detail in the Vocational Nursing Student Handbook.
<br />STUDENT INTERACTION
<br />Student interaction is an important component of the academic experience at the college. Both the facility and class
<br />organizations are designed to encourage opportunities for student communication. Class assignments include group work
<br />and cooperative learning activities. Students are encouraged to contact their instructors if they wish to join study or special
<br />interest groups.
<br />COPYRIGHT PROTECTION
<br />The institution requires its students to respect the rights of others, including intellectual property rights. The federal
<br />Copyright Act (Title 17 of the United States Code) prohibits the unauthorized making and distribution of copyrighted
<br />material. Violations of the Copyright Act, including unauthorized peer -to -peer file sharing, may subject students to civil and
<br />criminal liabilities. These liabilities include, but are not limited to, actions by a copyright owner to recover actual damages,
<br />profits, or statutory damages, as well as reasonable attorney's fees and costs, and federal criminal charges that may result in
<br />fines and imprisonment.
<br />USE OF COLLEGE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES
<br />The college provides its students with access to computer equipment, facsimile equipment, copier machines, and the
<br />internet, exclusively for educational activities. Students are prohibited from using any of the foregoing, or any of the other
<br />college's information technology systems, for the unauthorized copying or distribution of copyrighted materials, including
<br />but not limited to unauthorized peer -to -peer file sharing of copyrighted materials. Downloading, viewing, distributing, or
<br />sending pornographic or obscene materials are also prohibited. This prohibited conduct includes bookmarldng any
<br />pornographic or obscene websites or websites intended or used for the distribution of unauthorized copies of the
<br />copyrighted materials, or knowingly opening or forwarding any e-mail, fax, or voicemail messages containing unauthorized
<br />copies of copyrighted materials, or any pornographic or obscene materials. Any violation of these policies may result in
<br />disciplinary action, up to, and including dismissal from the college.
<br />Any communications by students via e-mail, instant messenger, voicemail, or fax that may constitute slander or defamation
<br />or may be considered abusive, offensive, harassing, vulgar, obscene, or threatening are prohibited. This content includes,
<br />but is not limited to, sexual comments or images, racial slurs, gender -specific comments, or any other comments that would
<br />offend someone on the basis of age, race, sex, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, physical challenge, sexual orientation,
<br />or veteran status. Any individual with a complaint about such communications should refer to the policy of
<br />nondiscrimination.
<br />The college utilizes many technology -based systems and other means to detect and deter unauthorized copying and
<br />distribution of copyrighted materials. Students should have no expectation of privacy whatsoever related to their use of the
<br />college's systems. If a message or file is erased, it is still possible to recover it, therefore privacy on College technology is not
<br />guaranteed. Any computer -generated correspondence, the contents of all computer hard drives on the college's premises
<br />and saved voicemail messages are the sole property of the college and may be considered business records and used in
<br />administrative, judicial, or other proceedings. The college licenses software to support its educational processes. Students
<br />are not permitted to copy, remove, or install software. By using the computer equipment, software, and communications
<br />devices, all students knowingly and voluntarily consent to being monitored and acknowledge the college's right to conduct
<br />such monitoring. The equipment is intended for educational purposes only, and any other use by students, including but not
