Mayor Pro Tem Penaloza closed the public hearing at 8:50 p.m. Council discussion <br />ensued. <br />Republic Services representative accepted the changes. <br />Mayor Sarmiento recessed the Regular Open meeting after consideration of Item <br />43 at 10:19 p.m. and reconvened at 10:32 p.m. to consider Public Comments. <br />Moved by Councilmember Mendoza, seconded by Councilmember Phan to <br />approve amended motion to award agreement to Republic Services and <br />include the following amendment to add the below, number one (I.), to Section <br />5.2.6 on page 96 of the proposed agreement and add number two (II.) to be <br />reflected to exhibit 11 of the agreement, which are exhibits to resolution: <br />I. Request the implementation of clean city initiatives to be accelerated by <br />one full year with no impacts to rates except for abandoned item collections <br />and liter clean up to be implemented on July 1, 2022, a six-month acceleration. <br />II. A request to establish a new neighborhood association public -right-of- <br />way trash container service as part of the clean city initiatives with no impacts <br />to rates, which includes the following: <br />• Program would apply to all neighborhood associations present and <br />future. An association will need to make the request for the cans. <br />• The cans shall be collected once a week at the same time as the weekly <br />service for the area. <br />• Cans shall be placed on the public -right-of-way where vehicles do not <br />impede the collection and are collected automatically. <br />• Cans must meet the same specifications as the public -right-of-way trash <br />container service in exhibit 11 of the agreement. <br />• Cans shall be steamed cleaned on the exterior and interior as specified <br />in the right-of-way trash container steam cleaning service in exhibit 11 of <br />the agreement. <br />• The number of neighborhood cans shall not exceed 896. This number <br />includes the Washington Square Neighborhood Association cans. <br />• Hauler will supply a maximum of 882 new cans. Only 14 cans from the <br />Washington Square Neighborhood Association will be collected <br />manually. <br />• Washington Square Neighborhood Association service of the 14 cans <br />shall start on July 1, 2022. <br />• The new neighborhood associations public -right-of-way trash container <br />service shall start at the same time as the right-of-way trash container <br />service in exhibit 11 of the agreement <br />Held a Public Hearing to adopt a resolution (Resolution No. 2021-046) <br />City Council 24 8/17/2021 <br />
