Program Information <br />I)A-RX32 - Radiation Safety <br />DA-RX32 — Radiation Safety <br />Course Description: <br />The following short course is not vocational in nature and does not lead to initial employment and does <br />not provide credit toward any vocational program offered at the school. This is a certification course and <br />upon completion, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion. This course is not vocational in <br />nature and does not lead to initial employment. <br />Program Obiective: <br />This course introduces students to the basic anatomy of the head and teeth in order to familiarize <br />students with the anatomical structures involved in dental radiographs. Hands-on care of film, equipment, <br />and related infection control steps during film exposure. Students will learn the parts of an x-ray machine, <br />the properties of x-radiation and factors that affect the density and contrast of an x-ray. Hands-on <br />experience is given in radiographic techniques and processing of x-rays including basic principles of <br />intraoral radiography. Students are also introduced to digital radiography. <br />Prerequisite: <br />• Infection Control/CPR/BLS <br />• Each student must satisfactorily demonstrate to the instructor clinical competency in infection <br />control requirements prior to clinical instruction in Radiation Safety.
