Current Topics in Public Policy <br />3 credits <br />An analysis of major policy issues of the United States <br />healthcare system, in both the public and private sector. The <br />course focuses on debated topics in health services, the <br />policy process, and key management issues of healthcare <br />reform, medical care and medical policy. Also discussed is <br />the utilization of biomedical technologies in the healthcare <br />system and how these emerging technologies could affect the <br />administration of healthcare. Students learn to be <br />discriminating users of healthcare research studies in <br />managerial decision making. This course is writing <br />intensive. <br />HCA 465. Leadership and Change in Healthcare <br />Administration <br />3 credits <br />An overview of leadership theories to assist in the <br />development of effective leadership skills. Students will <br />discuss workplace change and the leader's role in the change <br />process as well as examining and analyzing effective <br />performance indicators for staff and organizational goals. <br />HCA 499. Capstone in Healthcare Administration <br />5 credits <br />Prerequisite: Successful completion of all core courses <br />The Healthcare Management Capstone is designed to <br />integrate knowledge and skills from previous coursework. <br />This class focuses on the key issues affecting the <br />administration of modern healthcare organizations and <br />explores how those issues impact the delivery of care. The <br />goals of the course are to provide a solid foundation of <br />applying managerial knowledge within the healthcare <br />industry. The students will demonstrate the knowledge in a <br />professionally competent and ethical manner conducive to <br />the advancement of healthcare in the local community. This <br />course is writing intensive. <br />ISC 100. Introduction to Information Technology <br />4 credits <br />This course provides an in-depth understanding of how to <br />assemble, configure, and validate computer platforms. <br />Students will learn about the mobile and PC hardware, <br />software, and operating systems used in respective <br />platforms. Students will learn about the hardware and <br />network troubleshooting tools, techniques, operational <br />procedures, and problem solving methodologies. <br />MATH 120. General Algebra <br />3 credits <br />This course introduces elements of algebra that include <br />fractions, linear equations, and inequalities. Coursework <br />progresses to introduce exponents, polynomials, and <br />polynomial expressions. The use of graphing of one and two <br />variables is used to highlight applications. The course <br />concludes with quadratic functions and their solutions. The <br />emphasis is on general concepts and applications of algebra <br />that are aligned with the student's field of study. <br />MATH 125. Intermediate Algebra <br />3 credits <br />This course introduces algebraic concepts, such as set <br />operations, factoring, linear equations, quadratic equations, <br />exponents, radicals, polynomials, rational expressions, <br />rectangular coordinates, ratios and proportions. <br />MATH 135. College Algebra <br />3 credits <br />This course covers algebraic relationships, functions and <br />graphs that build on basic, intermediate algebra, <br />emphasizing solving for one or two unknown variables in <br />complex equations, graphing single -variable polynomial <br />functions, quadratic and rational inequalities, linear and <br />quadratic variables, remainder and factor theorems and <br />exponential and logarithmic functions. <br />MATH 211. Calculus I <br />4 credits <br />This course is designed to develop the topics of differential <br />and integral calculus. Emphasis is placed on limits, <br />continuity, derivatives and integrals of algebraic and <br />transcendental functions of one variable.
