Planning is also responsible for environmental review, <br />historic preservation, implementation of commercial cannabis <br />regulations, and new development. Planning provides staff support <br />to the City's Planning Commission, the Historic Resources <br />Commission, and the City Council. <br /> X X Police The mission of the Santa Ana Police Department is to deliver public <br />safety services to the community with the utmost professionalism <br />and integrity. The Police Department’s values of teamwork, <br />excellence, accountability, and making a difference act as the <br />guidelines for the discretionary use of police powers and are the <br />basis by which employee actions are evaluated. <br />X X Public Works The Public Works Agency is responsible for building and maintaining <br />all public streets, storm drains, sewers, and water facilities. In <br />addition, it coordinates the collection and recycling of refuse, sweep <br />public streets, landscape the public right-of-way, trim trees, and <br />remove graffiti. The Public Works department ensures that the <br />community enjoys high quality drinking water and is able to travel <br />around the City efficiently through the use of our state-of-the-art <br />traffic management system. The department works with <br />neighborhood associations to resolve speeding, parking, and traffic <br />problems and with developers to ensure that City development <br />standards are met. <br />Plans and Programs <br />X X X X Santa Ana Strategic <br />Plan <br />On March 18, 2014, the City Council adopted a 5-year strategic plan. <br />The adoption of this plan marked a major milestone for both the city <br />and the community which began in 2012 with the adoption of the <br />Sunshine Ordinance. The Strategic Plan provides a clear statement <br />of where the city is going and how it intends to get there. It includes <br />a vision, a description of the mission of the organization, a set of <br />guiding principles (values) that will guide actions, a set of multi-year <br />goals that guide decisions, objectives and strategies for each goal, <br />and a plan for implementation and accountability. <br />X X X X City Budget Detail <br />(FY 2020-2021) <br />The City of Santa Ana has an annual fiscal budget, which begins in <br />July and ends in June of the following year.
