Bilingual <br />tutoring for children and teens is provided in the Library Learning Center. The Main Library is open <br />Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 <br />p.m. and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. <br /> <br />The Newhope Branch Library is located at 122 North Newhope Street, Santa Ana CA 92703. The <br />Newhope Library provides all types of books and audiovisual materials in English, Spanish and <br />Vietnamese for children and teens, as well as story times in English and Spanish and special programs <br />for children, and supports a branch of the Santa Ana Public Library Teen Club. It offers computer access <br />for adults, children and teens. Bilingual tutoring for children and teens is available in the Library Learning <br />Center. The Newhope Branch Library is open Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., <br />Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is closed on Friday and Sunday. <br /> <br />I. SCOPE <br /> <br />The City’s goal is to provide deterrence against crimes of vandalism, theft and bodily injury at the two <br />Library locations. The Contractor shall provide security guard services in and around the Library <br />properties as requested by the City. Contract security personnel shall assist the Library in meeting its <br />security objectives. <br /> <br />Duties Include, but are not limited to: <br /> <br />• Roving patrol of building interior, include – but not limited to the following tasks: <br />1. Ensure that alarms at all emergency access doors are activated. <br />2. Ensure that meeting rooms are locked when not in use. <br />3. Watch for drug activity, vandalism and graffiti, weapons, alcohol, open food containers and <br />other acts that interfere with or disrupt library activities (Santa Ana Municipal Code §2-602.1) <br />4. Verify that all exterior doors are locked after normal business hours. <br />5. Hourly inspection of public restrooms. Advise library management of any maintenance or <br />repairs needs. <br />6. Ensure that needles, syringes or other potentially hazardous material is reported and safely <br />disposed. <br />7. Ensure that all patrons exit the library as closing time approaches <br /> <br />• Roving patrol of exterior library area, include – but not limited to the following tasks: <br />1. Ensure all exits are free from obstruction <br />2. Report unauthorized use of designated Library parking spaces <br />3. Ensure that needles, syringes or other potentially hazardous material is reported and safely <br />disposed. <br />4. Verify that all dumpsters are locked. <br />5. Verify and report building exterior lighting deficiencies. <br /> <br />• Complete incident and daily operating reports. Provide Library Management copies of <br />reports on a weekly basis <br />• Check the security camera system daily to ensure that it is in good working order. Notify <br /> Library Management, if malfunctions occur. <br />• Complete Library electronic reports for incidents in which he/she is directly involved;
