_ KDC Systems <br />An EMCOR Company <br />4.4. Los Angeles World Airports, LAX Central Utilities <br />Plant Upgrade <br />Project Size $43M <br />Years 2010 - 2016 <br />Overview <br />KDC developed a 'Balance of Plant' control system for the new LAX Central Utilities <br />Plant. The Wonderware System Platform SCADA System provided visualization for the <br />Central Utilities Plant and also for Air Handling Units distributed throughout the airport. <br />Process values were captured and historized to a Wonderware Historian <br />KDC Scope <br />Our scope included all PLC and HMI programming along with the design and fabrication <br />of all Control Panels <br />Details <br />The heart of this system consisted of Redundant Control Logix Processors. These <br />controllers communicated with multiple geographically dispersed systems over <br />protocols including Ethernet, BACNet and Modbus. <br />A library was developed using Wonderware Templates and Logix Modules. Standard <br />Logix Modules were developed. These modules utilized User Defined Tags (UDTs) for <br />public interfaces. and were comprehensively documented. The SCADA system was <br />deployed in a VMWare Virtualized environment consisting of 3 physical servers, each <br />hosting 5 virtual servers with Dual Redundancy <br />This was a very challenging project. It is always challenging working in a fast -paced <br />environment like an airport.
