(Athens) <br /> <br />February 9, 2021 3 ‐ 2 City of Santa Ana <br /> <br />SERVICE TRANSITION EXPERIENCE <br />Athens performed a hauler transition in the city of Norwalk in 2018. <br />Legal Disclosures <br /># OF LEGAL <br />DISCLOSURES SUMMARY OF LEGAL DISCLOSURES <br />1 City of Montebello v All Persons Interested in the Matter, et. al., Central District, Case No. BC713533 (2018). <br />Action for judicial declaration concerning current status of residential franchise agreement filed by City and <br />counterclaim by Athens for declaratory relief and damages. Parties reached a settlement and actions were <br />dismissed. Athens continues to provide solid waste hauling services under the long‐standing 1984 agreement to the <br />City residents. <br />Facilities <br />OPERATING FACILITY/LOCAL OFFICE <br />Athens proposes to collaborate with the City of Santa Ana to develop a new operating facility by using an existing facility or <br />development of a new facility at a City yard. Athens states that it has excess capital to purchase an existing City resource and to <br />develop a facility. <br />Customer Service: 5355 S. Vincent Ave., Irwindale <br />Athens states that they have several sites in Santa Ana and surrounding areas in different negotiation stages suitable for their <br />proposed Santa Ana facility. <br /> <br />DISPOSAL SITE <br />Frank R. Bowerman Landfill, Irvine. <br />Tip fee: $35.67 <br /> <br />TRANSFER FACILITIES <br />Athens proposes to collaborate with the City of Santa Ana to develop a transfer station at the same location as the operating facility. <br />Athens states that they have several sites in Santa Ana and surrounding areas in different negotiation stages suitable for their <br />proposed Santa Ana facility. <br />In Athens’ response to the Proposal Summary, they stated that they do not plan to use transfer stations. <br /> <br />PROCESSING FACILITIES <br />American Organics ‐ Victorville <br />Owned and operated by Athens. Materials to be processed: source‐separated organic waste. <br />Tierra Verdes Industries ‐ Irvine <br />Material to be processed: source‐separated green waste <br />Tip fee: $83/ton. <br />Estimated diversion rate: Facility does not post a diversion rate. <br />In Athens’ response to the Proposal Summary, they stated they will use Republic’s CVT Facility at $87/ton with a 35% diversion rate <br />and use their current recycling infrastructure until they can reach the diversion goal with a local facility. <br />
