The City of Santa Ana (our home of over 15 years) has numerous <br />problems. Crime, homelessness, housing affordability, air quality, <br />infrastructure, a giant mound of dirt festering in the middle of <br />downtown, the lack of libraries, potholes, a demoralized police <br />department, lack of a permanent city manager, budget problems, recall <br />elections, absentee landlords allowing their properties to crumble... are <br />all issues that this council needs to address. Instead, a small group of <br />"misguided" Councilmembers have decided to waste public resources to <br />opine on a foreign matter with no practical consequence other than <br />dividing our community. <br />In substance, the resolution is blatantly one-sided, inaccurate, and <br />entirely at odds with positions taken by the United States government, <br />the State of California, and our elected officials in Congress who are <br />actually responsible for foreign policy (most of whom are Democrats). <br />The Resolution fails to condemn Hamas which livestreamed its barbarism <br />for the world to see. That barbarism included the massacre of men, <br />women, and children, rape, and kidnap. Putting those issues aside (if you <br />can), that terror group butchers its own citizens for being gay, summarily <br />executes its citizens without any form of due process, and steals money <br />from the international community to build terror tunnels and military <br />installations under and within hospitals, mosques, and schools. The <br />barbarism includes firing thousands of rockets at its sovereign neighbor <br />and turning a blind eye to rocket misfires which kill untold numbers of <br />Palestinians. <br />Any civilian casualties are a tragedy. However, that does not make them <br />a genocide. A genocide is the deliberate killing of a large group of a <br />particular people with the aim of destroying those people. That is exactly <br />what Hamas has set out to do to Jews in Israel. The Hamas Charter calls <br />for the destruction of the State of Israel and the annihilation of the Jewish <br />people across the world. The mastermind of 10/7 (who was released in <br />an exchange of 1027 prisoners for one soldier) has vowed to commit 10/7 <br />
