Neighborhood <br />Infrastructure <br />B. Seek additional funds to improve <br />infrastructure, including state and <br />federal grants for improvements for <br />health and wellness, prioritizing R/ECAP <br />and TCAC census tracts. Prioritize grant <br />opportunities to fund active <br />transportation and infrastructure <br />improvements on an ongoing basis and <br />maximize opportunities in R/ECAPs and <br />TCAC census tracts. <br />Annually & Ongoing <br />In 2023, the City was awarded $1.25 million of competetive statewide grant <br />funding from the California Natural Resources Agency for a flood reduction and <br />stormdrain upgrade project from the California Natural Resources Agency. <br />5. Healthy Neighborhoods <br />Initiatives <br />A. Continue to implement Santa Ana <br />Green program, including tree planting, <br />corridor greenways, build-green <br />initiatives, and energy conservation. <br />Ongoing <br />In 2023, the Public Works Agency (PWA) continued services to ensure the long <br />term sustainability of the City's inventory of 50,000 City right-of-way trees. All <br />services performed were in accordance to industry standard best practices set <br />forth by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). <br />5. Healthy Neighborhoods <br />Initiatives <br />B. Collaborate with neighborhoods and <br />community organizations, especially in <br />R/ECAP and TCAC census tracts, to <br />promote Healthy Neighborhood <br />Initiative, hold five community garden <br />workshops, program the City’s fitness <br />courts, hold annual 5k and Fit festival, <br />and operate Street Team with the <br />objective of bringing recreation <br />activities to communities that are <br />challenged with lack of park space. <br />Annually & Ongoing <br />The City's community gardens, El Salvador, Jerome, Madison, PAcific Electric, <br />and Roosevelt Walker, are now open regularly and were enhanced with special <br />programming such as Harvest Festival, Compost Workshops, and extended <br />hours of operation. The City's Health & Wellness Section is in the process of <br />programing the nine fitness court spaces that were recently installed at parks <br />(Cabrillo, Carl Throton, Delhi, El Salvador, Heritage, Jerome, Lilllie King, Portola, <br />and Rosita). The City's Annual 5k/10k Fit Fest took place on April 22, 2023. <br />B-88
