Promote <br />awareness of the City Landscape and <br />Parkway Improvement Guidelines to <br />require public projects and new private <br />development to incorporate drought- <br />tolerant landscaping. Continue to <br />encourage drought-tolerant retrofits <br />through the Turf Removal Rebate <br />Program and educate property owners <br />about incentives available through the <br />SoCal Water$mart program to public <br />and private property owners for planting <br />native or drought-tolerant vegetation. <br />PWA/PBA 2022 Staff maintains up to date webpages <br />and participates in over 100 community <br />meetings annually to promote water <br />smart landscapes. City received a grant <br />from Metropolitan Water District to <br />implement a residential garden <br />transformation program. Continued to <br />educate property owners and promote <br />awareness of the Turf Removal Program <br />along with other incentives offered <br />through the SoCal Water$mart <br />Program. <br />Conservation 4.3 No Green stormwater management. <br />Identify opportunities for the installation <br />of stormwater best management <br />practices in the public rights-of-way, <br />parking lots, parks, or public buildings, <br />for inclusion into the Capital <br />Improvement Program. <br />PWA Ongoing In 2023, the City was awarded $7.35 <br />million of competitive statewide grant <br />funding from the Department of Water <br />Resources and California Natural <br />Resources Agency for stormwater <br />capture and urban greening projects. <br />These projects include stormwater Best <br />Management Practices (BMPs) that <br />capture, treat, or infiltrate stormwater <br />runoff. The City also continued to make <br />progress on a Stormwater Project <br />Master Plan, which includes a detailed <br />analysis of the City to identify optimal <br />locations for stormwater projects.
