SECTION 3231. Obedience to Traffic Control Devices. <br /> <br /> The driver of any vehicle shall obey the instructions of <br />any official traffic control device applicable thereto if placed <br />in accordance with the Vehicle Code and this Code, unless other- <br />wise directed by a Police Officer, subject to the exemptions <br />granted the driver of any emergency vehicle when responding to <br />emergency calls. <br /> <br />SECTION 3232. Traffic Siqnals. <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works is authorized to install and <br />maintain official traffic control signals at those intersections <br />and at other places where traffic conditions are such as to <br />require that the flow of traffic be alternately interrupted and <br />released in order to prevent or relieve traffic congestion, or <br />to protect life or property from exceptional hazard in accordance <br />with engineering studies. <br /> <br />SECTION 3232.1. Same. Roadway Markinqs. <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works is authorized to place and <br />maintain distinctive roadway markings, as described in the Vehicle <br />Code, on those streets, or parts of streets, where the volume of <br />traffic or the vertical or other curvature of the roadway renders <br />it hazardous to drive on the left side of such markings or signs <br />and markings. <br /> <br />SECTION 3232.2. Same. Lane Lines. <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works is authorized to mark center <br />lines and lane lines upon the surface of the roadway to indicate <br />the course to be traveled by vehicles, and may place signs <br />temporarily indicating lanes to be used by traffic moving in a <br />particular direction, regardless of the center line of the <br />highway. <br /> <br />SECTION 3232.3. Same. Discontinuance of Operation. <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works is authorized to remove, <br />relocate or discontinue the operation of any traffic control <br />device or curb marking not specifically authorized by State Law, <br />Or this Code or resolutions, whenever engineering studies show <br />that the conditions whichwarrant or require such control no <br />longer exist or where such device is in conflict with the <br />provisions of this Code. <br /> <br />SECTION 3232.4. Same. Traffic Control Devices - Hours of <br /> Operation. <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works shall determine the hours in <br />which any traffic control device shall be in Operation or be in <br />effect, except in cases where such hours or days are specified <br />by this Code or resolution. <br /> <br />SECTION 3233. Temporary Siqns. <br /> <br /> The Chief of Police and his authorized officers are hereby <br />authorized to erect and maintain t~nporary signs or signals <br />regulating traffic and movement of vehicles upon the streets in <br />the City, so as to prohibit travel or turning of vehicles upon <br />said streets as in their opinion the occasion may require. No <br />driver of a vehicle shall disobey the directions of the signs. <br /> <br />-5- <br /> <br /> <br />
