SECTION 8116. Method of Desiqn. <br /> Section 2303 is hereby amended by adding a fifth paragraph to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br /> Structural members shall be designed for the most severe <br /> possible distribution of design live loads. <br /> <br />SECTION 8117. Pedestrian Canopy. <br /> Section 3201 is hereby amended by adding an exception after <br />the first paragraph to read as follows: <br /> <br /> EXCEPTION: Canopy for pedestrian protection. Regardless of <br /> restrictions due to Fire Zones, an approved flame- <br /> proofed canvas or Class III (Flame-spread classi- <br /> fication) plastic may be used for roof covering on <br /> a structure adjacent to an entrance to a building <br /> provided that: <br /> 1. Structure is used for pedestrian protection only. <br /> 2. Area covered does not exceed two hundred (200) <br /> square feet and shall be over private property. <br /> 3. Structure shall be not less than twenty (20) feet <br /> from adjacent property lines and from any <br /> building other than building being served. <br /> 4. Supporting structure shall conform to structural <br /> and fire-resistive requirements of the Code. <br /> <br />SECTION 8118. Vents. <br /> Chapter 37 is hereby amended by deleting Sections 3706, <br />3709, and 3710. <br /> <br />3707, <br /> <br />SECTION 8119. Temporary Use of...~t~ets and Alleys. <br /> Section 4402 is hereby amended by changing the second paragraph <br />to read as follows: <br /> 1. In front of the building site. In that portion of the <br /> roadway of the street that is adjacent to and within seven (7) <br /> feet of the curb,except that prior approval by the Director of <br /> Public Works is required for the use of any portion of roadway <br /> where parking is prohibited or limited. <br /> <br />SECTION 8120. Heat Producinq Appliances. <br /> Section 5101(a) is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> (a)General. Heat-producing appliances shall conform to the <br /> requirements of this Chapter and Chapter 8, Article VIII of <br /> the Santa Ana Municipal Code. <br /> <br />SECTION 8120.1. Heat Producinq Appli~nce~. <br /> Chapter 51 is hereby amended by deleting Sections 5102 to <br />5106, both inclusive. <br /> <br />SECTION 8121. Duty of Police Qfficer. <br /> It is the duty of every Police officer, while on his regular <br />patrol or going about his assigned duty, to be alert to observe <br />and discover any work of construction, alteration, or repair of <br />any building within the City and, when discovered, to determine if <br />possible whether or not said work is being conducted under a <br />properly issued building, electrical, or plumbing permit. If said <br />officer determines that said work is being conducted without such <br />permit or is unable to determine that said work is being conducted <br />under such permit, he shall, within 24 hours, report the fact, <br />together with all information obtained by him, to the Director of <br />Building Safety. <br /> <br />SECTION 8122. Duty of the Police Chief. <br /> It is the duty of the chief of Police to see that the police <br />officers under his direction are properly trained to carry out the <br />duties imposed upon them by Section 8121 and to cooperate with the <br />Director of Building Safety to the end that the provisions of said <br />Section may produce the most thorough coverage of the City for the <br />apprehension of violators of the various codes and provisions <br />regulating building. <br /> <br />-6- <br /> <br /> <br />
