ORDINANCE NO. NS-1416 <br />PAGE TEN <br /> <br />Sec. 8-913. Mechanical and Electrical Continuity- <br /> Conductors (Section 300-13(b)). <br /> <br /> Section 300-13(b) of the National Electrical Code is <br />a~ended to read as follows: <br /> <br />(b) In all circuits the continuity of conductors <br />shall not be dependent upon device connections, such <br />as lampholders, receptacles, etc., where the removal <br />of such devices would interrupt the continuity. <br /> <br />Sec. 8-915. Boxes or Fittings - Where required <br /> (Section 300-15(b)). <br /> <br /> Section 300-15(b) of the National Electrical Code is <br />amended by deleting therefrom Exceptions numbers 1 and 5. <br /> <br />Sec. 8-933. Metal-Clad Cable (Article 334). <br /> <br /> Chapter 3 of the National Electrical Code is amended <br />by deleting therefrom Article 334 and all sections therein in- <br />cluded, to wit: Sections 334-1 through 334-13 inclusive. <br /> <br />Sec. 8-941. Uses Permitted or Not Permitted (Section <br /> 336-3). <br /> <br /> Section 336-3 of the National Electrical Code is <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />336-3. Uses Permitted or Not Permitted. Non- <br />metallic sheathed cable shall not be used for ex- <br />posed wiring and shall only be used for concealed <br />wiring in one and two family dwellings or multi- <br />family dwellings (apartment houses) not exceeding <br />three floors above grade. <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Type NM. This type of non-metallic sheathed <br />cable may be installed for concealed work in <br />normally dry locations. It may be installed <br />or fished in air voids in masonry block or <br />tile walls where such walls are not exposed or <br />subject to excessive moisture or dampness. <br />Type NM cable shall not be installed where <br />exposed to corrosive fumes or vapors; nor shall <br />it be embedded in masonry or concrete and covered <br />with plaster or similar finish. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Moisture and Corrosion-Resistant Type NMC. <br />This type of non-metallic sheathed cable may be <br />installed for concealed work in dry, moist, damp <br />or corrosive locations, and in outside and in- <br />side walls of masonry block or tile. Where em- <br />bedded in plaster or run in shallow chase in <br />masonry walls and covered with plaster within <br />2 inches of the finished surface, it shall be <br />protected against damage from nails by a cover <br />of corrosion-resistant coated steel at least <br />1/16 inch in thickness and 3/4 inch wide in the <br />chase or under the final surface finish. <br /> <br /> <br />
