On motion <br />of Trustee Kelly, seconded by Goode and carried, t~he <br />protest was filed for future reference. <br /> <br />Protests were presented against the insta!lstion of <br />ornamental lig~.ts in the district lying between First <br />Street and McFadden Street and Main Street and ttalladay <br />Street and between McFadden Street and the South City <br />Limits and Main Street and Maple Avenue. On motion of <br />Trustee Goode, seconded by Knox and carried, the pro- <br />tests were filed until proper time for presentation of <br />protests. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Kelly, seconded by Goode and car- <br />ried, tt~ application of Rev. D.L. McGriff was granted, <br />to conduct a Tag Day, April 28th for the purpose of col- <br />lecting money ~to build a church for negroes at 1808 W. <br />Eighth Street. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Ggode,seconded by McBride and car- <br />ried, the City Manager was instructed to notify the <br />Chairman of the Music Committee for the dedication of <br />the new Los Angeles City Hall, t.hat the City Council <br />will be unable to send the S.A. Municipal Band to give <br />a concert, April 26th.. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Goode, seconded by Knox and cart <br />the co~nunication fr~n Joseph M. Schenck relative to <br /> <br />entrance of a float in the parade to be held April 26th <br /> back <br />ih Los Angeles, was referred/to the Chamber of Commerce <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Goode, seconded by Kelly and car- <br />ried, the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to sign <br />an agreement with the Santa Ana Night Baseball Associa- <br />tion for the use of the Olive Street Reservoir and to <br />make all improvement without expense to the City. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Kelly and car- <br />ried, Chas D. Swarmer, City Attorney, was granted a week <br />leave of absence from the State. <br /> <br />0n motion of Trustee Knox, seconded by McBride and car- <br />ried, the Chair was authorized to appoint a committee of <br />three to work out a solution in connection with the <br />erection by 0.P. Litten of a confectionery stand in Bir~ <br />Park. Trustees Goode, Kelly and the Building Inspector <br />were appoinSed aa such committee. <br /> <br /> <br />
