Kessler. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Salvage from <br /> <br />01d Baseball Bowl. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 959 <br /> <br />Water Softeners, etc. <br /> <br />487 <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Warner, seconded by Penn and car- <br />ried, the communication from the 0range County Civic <br />League protesting against the donating of city funds for <br />the summer playgrounds, was accepted and filed. <br /> <br />,, <br /> <br />Mr. Maxwell Burke, Drs. Margarete Baker, M. W. Hollings- <br />worth, Mrs. Roy Hort~n and others appeared before the <br />Council urging the donation of $750.00 towards S,,mmer <br />Playgrounds. The motion of Trastee Hasenjaeger to deny <br />the request of the Parents Teachers Association and other~ <br />for a donation of $780.00 towards $,mmer Playseunds etid <br />not ~ receive a second. On motion of Trustee Warner, <br />seconded by Penn and carried, the matter relative to a <br />donation for Summer Playgrounds was taken <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Petitions wer~ ~a-esented signed by 2321 residents approv- <br />ing the placing of city buses and taxis under strict <br />regulation.and under the same protection granted other <br />public utilities. On motion of Trustee HasenJaeger, <br />seconded by McBride and carried, the petitions were re- <br />ferred to the City Attorney. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee HasenJ~eger, seconded by McBride and <br />carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission <br />was accepted and the petition of property owners to have <br />the name of E~calyptus Street between Seventeenth and <br />Nineteenth changed to Victoria Drive, was denied. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Warner, seconded by Penn and <br /> <br />Harry E. Kessler was appointed a special police officer <br /> <br />without pay to act as' watchman at the Red Cross Flou~ <br />Distributing Warehouse. <br /> <br /> ,, <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee HasenJaeger, seconded by Warner and <br /> carried, the City Engineer was instructed to secure an <br /> appraisal on the lighting equipment salvaged from the <br /> Bowl and report back at the next meeting. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance was finally read amending Section 154 of <br /> Ordinance No. 821 of the City of Santa Ana pertaining <br /> to the installation of water softeners and other similar <br /> fixtures. The ordinance was considered, designated <br /> Ordinance No. 9§9 and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes, Trustees J.L. McBride, E.G. Warner, W. H. Penn, <br /> A.C. HasenJaeger, Paul B. Witmer. <br /> <br /> Noes, TrY tees None. <br /> <br /> Absent, Trustees None. <br /> <br /> <br />
