No. 2417 <br /> <br />Determining Necessity <br /> <br />of Cleaning Weeds. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Absentee <br /> <br />Voters' Ballots. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the following Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br /> "An 0rdf~ance repealing Ordinance No. 415 entitled: "An <br />Ordinance granting to the Los Angeles Inter-Urban Railway <br />Company, a Co~poration, a franchise for an electric pole <br />and wire line upon aud ~along certain streets in the City of <br />Santa Ana, CalLfornia" <br /> <br />was finally read, considered, designated Ordinance No. 1014 <br />and ~assed by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes, Trustees Joseph P. Smith, Fred C. Rowland, V~.H. <br /> Penn, Plunnner W. Bzuns, E.G. Warner. <br /> <br /> Noes, Trustees None. <br /> <br />Absent, Trustees None. <br /> <br />A Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana <br />determining and declaring that weeds which bear seeds of a <br />wingy or downy nature and attain such a large growth as to <br />become a fire menace when dry, and which are noxious and <br />dangerous, are growing upon certain street, sidewalks and <br />private property in said City of Santa Ana and are a public <br />nuisance; directing the Street Superintendent to post noti- <br />ces to destroy said weeds as required by law; fixing the <br />for hearing objections and protests, and directing the abate- <br />me~t thereof in accordance with an Act of the Legislature of <br />the State of California~entitled, "An Act Authorizing Muni- <br />cipalities to declare noxious or dangerous weeds growing <br />the streets or sidewalks or upon private property within <br />municipalities to be a public nuisance, creating a lien upon <br />the propert~ fronting upon such streets or sidewalks, or <br />which su~chnuisa~ce exists for the cost of abating the same, <br />approved May 26, 1915", and smendments thereto" <br /> <br />was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 2417 and <br /> <br />passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Trustees Joseph P. Smith, Fred C. Rowland, VJ.H. <br /> Penn, Plummet W. Bruns, E.G. Warner. <br /> <br />Noes, Trustees None. <br /> <br />Absent, Trustees None. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br /> <br />the Council proceeded to open and canvass 61- absentee voter, <br /> <br />ballots on the G~neP~l Municipal Election of the City of <br /> <br />Santa Ana held April 8th, 193~, with the following results: <br /> <br />For Trustee, First Ward. <br /> 1. Dr. S.L. Aubin received 7 votes. <br /> 2. ~A.F. LeGaye received 19 votes. <br /> 3. Joseph P. Smith received 31 votes. <br /> <br />For Trustee, Seco~ Ward. 1. D. Jones Jr. received 15 votes. <br /> 2. Wm. H. Penn received 40 votes. <br /> <br />For Trustee, Third Ward. 1. John E. Hall received 17 votes. <br /> 2. Fred C.
