Water District. <br /> <br />Gas Company covering franchise tax for the year ending <br /> <br />December 31st, 19~§, was received and Clerk instructed to <br /> <br />deposit same. <br />. <br /> <br />A petition was read signed by residents of Valencia Street <br />between Seventeenth and Twentieth Streets requesting the <br />installation of street lights on said street. On mo~lon of <br />Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, the petition'for <br />street lights on Valencia Street, was referred to the Street <br />Commissioner and City Engineer with power to act. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the application of MacFarlane Electric for a permit to hang <br />an electric sign for Sebastian's Brownbilt Shoe Store at 108 <br />E. Fourth Street, was granted if and when it is approved ~~ <br />by the Electrical Inspector and hung under his supervision. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the communication of Geo. L. Bates, Civil Engineer and Map <br />Tract No~ 999 were'referred to a committee for investigation <br />and report back. Trustees Penn, Layton and City Engineer <br />were appointed as the committee. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee LaYton, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the quotations as submitted to the City Auditor for traffic <br />signals at First and Main Streets and at Seventeenth and Main <br /> <br />Streets, were opened as follows: <br /> <br />Gilbert-Weston-Stearns <br />MacFarlane Electric <br />Acme Traffic Signal <br /> <br />Inc. <br /> <br />Bid <br />$2335.00 <br />21~7.00 <br /> <br />Alternate <br />Addition 286.33 <br /> <br /> 1136.00 <br /> <br /> (17th & Main Sts) 977.00 <br /> {.lst& Main ets.) 1045.00 <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Penn and car~ed, <br />the quotations submitted on traffic signals were referred to <br />the City Auditor and Engineer for checking and report b~ck. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Penn and carried, <br />the Chair was authorized to appoint a committee, consisting <br />of Trustee Bruns and Attorney Blodget to meet with the Board <br />of Supervisors and the Sheriff of Orange County relative to <br />the establishment of a rock pile in the City of Santa Aha <br />for traffic violators and vagrants to labor upon. <br /> <br />The City Attorney reported that he had filed a written opin- <br />ion with each member of the City Council relative to the <br />legality of making an order requiring traffic violators and <br />vagrants to labor upon a rock pile in the City of Santa Aha. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the communication of the Metropolitan Water District submit- <br />ting a report on the progress made in the work for the month <br /> <br /> <br />
