Santa Aha City Hall. February 24th, 193~. 9:30 P.M. City Council met in regular adjourned eession. Meeting called to order by Mayor Rowland. Present: Trustees Joeeph P. Smith, Plummet ~. Bruns, W. H. Penn, Ernest H. Layton, Fred C. l~owland. Absent: Trustees None. In Re Meeting--Or. Co. League of Municipalities. In Re Correspondence on 1/& Cent Gas Tax Fund. In Re Communication Division of Highways. In Re Application Abet E. Lind. In Re Improvement of ~,~unicipal Bowl. In Re Application Security Benefit Assn. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Bmith and carried, the communication of the Orange County League of Municipali- ties relative to the dinner meeting to be held at 6:30 P.M., at the Elks Club, Anaheim, February 2?th, 1936, was received and filed and all members of the Council were urged to attend # On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruno and carried, the following portion of minute order adopted February l?th, 1936, was ordered stricken from the minutee: "all of the correspondence with reference to the 1/~ Cent Gas Tax Fund is to be handled and 'filed in the Clerkts offiOe#. # On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Brune and carried, the communication of the Division of Highway stating that Work Order 8?ZMC3 in the amount of $24,326.?? has been issued to finance the construction under a State contract of the South Main Street improvement and charged against Santa Ana's 1/4-cent allocation to State highways, was referred to the City Engineer. Messrs~ W. H. Spurgeon, Victor Walker and A. J. McFadden appeared before the Council requesting that the MuniCipal Bowl be used exclusively for baseball and football games and not for motorcycle races~and midget auto races. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, the application of Abet E. Lind to lease the Municipal Bowl one night each week for midget automobile races and maintain the track without cost to the City, was denied. . On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Smith and oar~ied, a committee was ordered appointed to confer with Messrs. Spurgeon, Walker and McFadden relative to re-turfing and con- ditioning the Municipal Bowl. Trustee Laytcn, B~ns and Penn were appointed as the committee. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Smith and carried, the application of the Security Benefit Association for a permit to conduct public dances at the Palm Ballroom, Third and Ross Streete, was referred to the Police Commissioner and Chief for investigation.
