E. Jemison to conduct a bowling alley <br /> at A08 W. Fourth Street, was referred to the Police Commis- <br /> sioner and~Chief for investigation. <br /> <br /> # <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, <br /> the application of the Santa Ana Pyramid #Al, A.E.0. Sciots <br /> for a free permit to hold a carnival by the Kraft Shows in <br /> Santa Aha from March lath to March 23rd, 1956, as a benefit <br /> for their lodge, was granted. <br /> <br /> . <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Penn and carried, <br />the warrant in amount of $2276.8~ of the Southern California <br />Edison Company Ltd., covering franchise tax for year ending <br />December 31, 1935, was referred to the Auditor for checking. <br />The statement and warrant in amount of $2278.8A of the Bou- <br /> <br /> them California Edison Company, having been checked and <br /> on motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Smith <br />approved by the City Auditor,/same was received and ~lerk <br /> <br /> instructed to deposit the warrant with the City Treasurer. <br /> <br />A petition signed by eight property owners was read, request- <br />lng the improvement of West Orange Road with decomposed gran- <br />ite, placing of street light at the end of the street and <br />placing the "dead end street" sign at a visible location. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the petition of property owners for the improvement of West <br />Orange Road, was referred to Trustee Layton and City Engineer <br />for investigation. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />A petition signed by the Official Board of the First Metho- <br />dist Episcopal Church of Santa Aha, was presented, requesting <br />the Council to examine into the business conducted in the <br />City of placing bets and wagers on horse races. On motion of <br />Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, the petition of <br />~he Official Board of the First Methodist Episcopal C~ch <br />was referred to a committee of the Council, of which the <br />Mayor is to be a member, to confer with the District Attorney! <br />and City Attorney as to the solution and disposition of the <br />Turf Club Betting Agencies. Trustee Bruns, Smith and Mayor <br />Rowland were appointed as the committee. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the application of MacFarlane Electric to hang an electric <br />sign for the Main Market at 320 B.
