The committee appointed to investigate the petition of pro- perty owners for the improvement of West Orange Road, was granted more time. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Smith and carried, the application of M. E. Jemison to conduct a bowling alley at 406 W. Fourth Street, was granted on recommendation of the Police Commissioner and Chief. # The committee appointed to investigate the application of the Security Benefit Association for a permit to conduct public dances at Third and Ross Street, was granted more ti~e. On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, the following Minute Resolution was adopted: Resolved, That this City Council recommends such action by the Railroad Commission of the State of California as will tend to reduce the rates or fares on, or will improve or increase the automobile bus or stage or o~her transportation facilities serving this community, and fUrther urge and recommend that all interested parties present to the Commission, at the hearings to be held in this City on the applications of the Santa Fe Railroad, all local evidence concerning the public necessity for such addiitonal fran- chises, to the end that the public necessity for such service may be made known to the Railroad Commission, and the best' interests of this community may be served. # The application of Arthur Gomez to conduct a general repair shop at 1326 Logan Street, was withdrawn according to report of the Planning Commission. ,, On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Smith and carried, the following Minute Resolution was adopted: That this Council hereby declares that it will follow the policy of refusing the use of the Municipal Bowl for any activity which unduly in~ures the turf thereof or which creates an
