On recommendation of the Taxicab Commission and on motion of T~ustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, the application of Carl L. Beltz and Homer E. Hunt for permits to drive taxi- cabs, were granted. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Smith and carried, the application of the Santa Ana Neon Company for a permit to hang an electric sign for P. B. Lee at 2&39 S. Main Street was granted under supervision of the Electrical Inspector. A petition signed by ten property o~ners read requesting relief from flood waters was presented and near Santa Ana Bo~le yard by the construction of drains and certain conduits under said Boulevard. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Smith and carried, the petition was referred to the Street Commis- sioner and City Engineer to investigate and report back. . Upon report of the committee appointed to investigate, it was moved by Trustee Smith, seconded by Penn and carried, that the application of Bartelson and Wilson to conduct as automobile dealers at 310 E. FifthStreet, the business be gr~nted. . On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Layton and carried, the application of the ?th Day Adventist Church to erect thei~ tabernacle, now located in Fullerton, to carry on religious revival meetings, on vacant lots either on South Broadway Just north of Fairview Avenue or at the corner of Sycamore and Wilshire Streets, was referred to the Fire Commissioner, Fire Chief, Building, Electrical and Plumbing Inspectors for InvestiEation. . On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Penn and carried, the following Ordinance entitled: "An Ordinance amending Zoning Ordinance No. 809 and changing the Zone upon that certain real property fronting on Broadway between Fifteenth Street and Twentieth Street from 'Single Family Residence Zone to Apartment House Zone' was introduced, read, considered and placed on file for second reading. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, the following Ordinance entitled: "An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 1036 entitled 'An Ordinance of the City of Santa Ama regulating the erect- ion, construction, repair, enlargement, alteration, removal, demolition and occupancy of all buildings and structures in said City and providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor, and repeal- Ordinance No. 1010 of said City '" was introduced, read, considered and placed on file for second reading.
