On recommendation of the Planning Commission and on motion of Trustee Smith, secmnded by Penn and carried, the application of 0. A. Brown was granted to construct a service station at the southeast corner of Fourth and McClay Streets. # No written or oral protests having been received, on motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Smith and carried, the applica- tion of Geo. A. Demetriou for a permit to construct a duplex at the southeast corner of Orange and Normandy, was referred to the Planning Commission. On recommendation of the Planning Commission and on motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, the apt of Geo. A. Demetriou to construct a duplex was granted. On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, the petition of property owners for the rezoning of North Broadway between 17th and 19th Streets to first class apart- ment house district, was referred back to the Planning Com- mission to be considered with the petition presented to North Broadway between 15th and 17th Streets. On recommendation of the Planning Commission and on motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Smith and carried, the property on North Broadway between 15th and 19th Streets, excepting the property fronting or abutting on 17th Street now zoned for business or special use, was ordered posted for First Class Apartment House District and the hearing date set January 18th, 1937, in accordance with petitions of property owne rs. # On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, the application of the Powell Neon Sign Company for a permit oversize to hang an/electric sign for Karl's Shoe Store at 207 E. ~th Street, was denied. # On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Smith and carried, the Resolution adopted by the Board of Supervisors of Orange County,~ appropriating $12,000.00 from the Motor Vehicle Fuel Fund for assistance in Acquisition and Improvement Districts No. 1, 3, 4 and 7, was received and the Clerk instructed to acknowledge the appropriation. # On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Penn and carried, the application of D. H. Betten for apermit to operate a merchants fire and patrol system in the business, industrial and residential districts of the City, was referred to the Police Commissioner, Police Chief and City Attorney.
