On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carried, the application of Thomas C. DeRusso, to drive a taxicab for the Broadway Cab Co., was denied. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and carried, the applications of Calvin B. Hembru, Richard J. Palmer, Helena Frances Kordek and Oscar Servant Matthew, to drive taxicabs for the Broadway Cab Co., were received and permits granted. On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and carried, the application of the Rescue Army, Inc. 9405 So.San Pedro St., Los Angeles, to solicit funds was referred to the City Attorney to report back. On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and carried, the application of the Powell Neon Sign Co. to hang aneon sign for the Town House Cafe, lll East 1st St., was granted and sign ~rdered hung under the super- vision of the Electrical Inspector. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carried, the monthly reports of the Police Dept., Juvenile Bureau and of the Poundmaster, for the month of April, 1944, were received and filed. Communication from the Santa Aha City Employees Assoc., was read requesting information as to what action has been taken to secure data relative to City employees Joining the State of California retirement and pension system and on motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Deckert and carried, the City Auditor was instructed to attend the meeting of the Employee's Association on June 8th, 1944 to explain this matter. ,, Communication was read from Secy-Treas. of Associated Chambers of Commerce stating that Orange County is inadequately posted as to directional and traffic signs and suggesting that such signs be posted to assist in directing the public and on motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and carried, the matter was referred to the Supt. of Streets to report back at the next meeting. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carried, house mover's bond of Joseph B. Collings and Charles A. Pearson, co-partners, doing business as Anaheim Truck & Transfer Co., in the written by the National Surety Corp., amount of $1,000.00, was approved.
