W. Wolford to meeting of the California <br /> State Division of the International Association for <br /> Identification in Oakland, May 28th, was granted and <br /> Captain Wolford instructed to file an expense account <br /> upon his return. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Chancy, seconded by Haan and <br /> carried, and on recomendation of Erma Keeler, City <br /> Clerk, the appointment of Voris K. Robison, to act as <br /> City License Inspector, in the Clerk's Office, was <br /> approved. <br /> <br />Communication was read from H.M.Nelghbour, St. Supt. <br />requesting permission to have weeds burned on vacant <br />lots and on motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by <br />Chancy and carried, the Chief of the Fire Dept. was <br />authorized to issue special fire permits to responsible <br />persons to burn weeds in the afternoon during the weed <br />abatement program. <br /> <br />A communication was read from City Attorney Otto A. <br />Jacobs, together with communication from Richard <br />Carpenter, Legal Counsel, League of California Cities, <br />relative to request of the Indoor Sports Club, Inc. <br />Long Beach Chapter, regarding pensions for handicapped <br />and crippled people in California, and on motion of <br />Trustee Haan, seconded by Chancy and carried, the Clerk <br />was instructed to advise the Club that request was <br />denied and that the prgper place to make such request <br />is to the County Board of Supervisors. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Deckert and <br />carried, the official certificate of the population of <br />the City of Santa Ana, by race and sex, as returned at <br />the Special Census, taken as of March 6, 1944, totaling <br />38,01§, was received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and <br />carried, communication from Chief of the Fire Dept. <br />stating that Laure B. LaFU~'gey resigned effective May <br />l, 194~ and that M.E.Lamb was reinstated as Hoseman, to <br />replace Mr. LaFurgey, was received and filed. <br /> <br />A petition w~s presented signed by property owners in <br />the vicinity of Pacific, West 6th and West 7th Sts., <br />requesting that a blind alley running easterly from <br />pacific Ave. to private property be abandoned, and on <br /> <br /> <br />
