State <br /> <br />Employees Retirement <br /> <br />System <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Poll of votes cast <br />for and against use <br />of Metropolitan Water <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Beverage <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Applications <br /> <br />Bus & Taxi drivers <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />Motor Vehicle Permit <br /> <br />Ben La Monica <br /> <br />Communication from Office of Defense Transportation <br />denying the a~pplication of Staton Bros. operating the <br />Broadway Cab Co. to add five taxicabs to their present <br />fleet of ten, was read and on motion of Trustee Deckert~ <br />seconded by Cheney and carried, the communication was <br />received and filed. <br /> <br />Communication was read from the Executive Secretary of <br />the State Employees Retirement System stating that the <br />City of Santa Aha would be required to pay $4§2.§0 for <br />the services of a Consulting Actuary in making the <br />report which would give the ultimate annual cost to the <br />City if a contract is made to bring its employees into <br />the State Employees Retirement System. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and <br />carried, the Clerk was authorized to request the <br />Consulting Actuary to proceed wi th the investigation and <br />valuation to bring the employees of the City of Santa An <br />into the State Employees Retirement System and that the <br />retirement age of Policemen and Firemen be set at 60 <br />years of age. <br /> <br />The report of M.L.Pearson, Public Accountant, stating <br />that 3,1V5 votes were cast for the use of Metropolitan <br />water and 1,4~1 against and that a total of 4,844 ballot <br />were cast, was read and on motion of Trustee Dixon, <br />seconded by Haan and carried, the report was accepted <br /> <br />and filed, and the City of Santa Ana to accept and use <br />,~etropolit an Water. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and <br />carried, the notification of the State Board of Equal- <br />ization of alcoholic beverage application made by Sam L. <br />Finney, dba Charcoal Broiler, 522 No. Main St., was <br />received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon and <br />carried, the applicatiors of Aloha Lucile Maddox and <br />J.B.Kinzer, to drive taxis for the Breadway Cab Co. <br />and application of Norman P. Kennedy to drive a bus for <br />the Santa Aha Bus Co., were received and permits <br />granted. <br /> <br />The application of Ben La Monica to conduct the business <br />of dealing in motor vehicles at 311 East 1st St. was <br />read. <br /> <br />The Mayor appointed Trustees Haan, Dixon and Cheney, as <br />a comittee, to investigate and to report back at next <br />meeting; application to be held in abeyance until August <br /> <br />7th, 1944. <br /> <br /> <br />
