Council Chambers <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Hall. <br /> <br />October 16th, 1944. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular session. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by Mayor Hoffman. <br /> <br />Present: Trustees Dale G. Deckert, W. Eugene Dixon, <br /> W.J. Cheney, Asa Hoffman. <br /> <br />Absent: Trustees Otto R. Haan. <br /> <br />The Clerk commenced the reading of the Minutes and each <br />member of the City Council having received copies of the <br />Minutes of October 2nd, 1944, further reading of the <br />Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion of <br />Trustee Cheney, seconded by Dixon and carried. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Meeting of <br /> <br />Board of Education. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Hallowe'en Celebration. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Minutes of <br /> <br />J.O.Sewer Board. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Applications <br /> <br />Beverage Licenses. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Request for Signs <br /> <br />Toastmasters ~lubs of S.A., <br /> <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />A communication was read inviting the City Council to attend <br />a meeting Monday, October ~Oth, at ?:50 P.M. in College Hall~ <br />of the Board of Education and members of the State Depart- <br />ment of Education to discuss the planning and erection of a <br />new Junior College. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded <br /> <br /> the communication was received and <br /> <br />by Cheney and carried, <br />filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, <br /> <br /> seconded by Dixon and carried, <br />a contribution of $25.00 was approved to help defray a part I <br />of the cost of the Hallowe'en Celebration sponsored by the <br />Junior Chamber of Commerce to be held October 51st. <br />. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />the minutes of the meeting of the Executive Board of the <br />Joint 0utfall Sewer, held October 5th, 1944, at Anaheim, <br />were received, filed and approved with the exception of that <br />part which has reference to a contract with the City of <br />Newport Beach. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carriedl <br />the noti~cation of the State Board of Equalization of alco- <br />holic beverage application made by Orville V. and Rex N. <br />Breese, dba The Charcoal Broiler, 522 N. Main Street, was <br /> <br />received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, <br />the notification of the State <br /> <br />seconded by Cheney and carried <br />Board of alcoholic beverage <br /> <br />application made by S. Louise Leonard, dba Delhi Cafe, 407 <br />Central Avenue, was referred to a committee to investigate <br />in connection with a protest submitted by the Board of Educa <br />tion, and report back at the next meeting. Trustees Deckert <br />Dixon and Cheney were appointed as the committee. <br /> <br />0n motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon and carried, <br />the Toastmasters Clubs of Santa Aha were granted permission <br />to place individual signs of approved design on each of the <br />four main entrances to the c~tY, providing they secure the <br /> <br /> <br />
