Council Chambers Santa Ana City Hall. October 16th, 1944. City Council met in regular session. Meeting called to order by Mayor Hoffman. Present: Trustees Dale G. Deckert, W. Eugene Dixon, W.J. Cheney, Asa Hoffman. Absent: Trustees Otto R. Haan. The Clerk commenced the reading of the Minutes and each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes of October 2nd, 1944, further reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Dixon and carried. In Re Meeting of Board of Education. In Re Hallowe'en Celebration. In Re Minutes of J.O.Sewer Board. In Re Applications Beverage Licenses. In Re Request for Signs Toastmasters ~lubs of S.A., 7:30 P.M. A communication was read inviting the City Council to attend a meeting Monday, October ~Oth, at ?:50 P.M. in College Hall~ of the Board of Education and members of the State Depart- ment of Education to discuss the planning and erection of a new Junior College. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded the communication was received and by Cheney and carried, filed. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon and carried, a contribution of $25.00 was approved to help defray a part I of the cost of the Hallowe'en Celebration sponsored by the Junior Chamber of Commerce to be held October 51st. . On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Cheney and carried, the minutes of the meeting of the Executive Board of the Joint 0utfall Sewer, held October 5th, 1944, at Anaheim, were received, filed and approved with the exception of that part which has reference to a contract with the City of Newport Beach. # On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carriedl the noti~cation of the State Board of Equalization of alco- holic beverage application made by Orville V. and Rex N. Breese, dba The Charcoal Broiler, 522 N. Main Street, was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Deckert, the notification of the State seconded by Cheney and carried Board of alcoholic beverage application made by S. Louise Leonard, dba Delhi Cafe, 407 Central Avenue, was referred to a committee to investigate in connection with a protest submitted by the Board of Educa tion, and report back at the next meeting. Trustees Deckert Dixon and Cheney were appointed as the committee. 0n motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon and carried, the Toastmasters Clubs of Santa Aha were granted permission to place individual signs of approved design on each of the four main entrances to the c~tY, providing they secure the
