Heim In Re Agreement on maintenance of St. Highway Routes thru Santa Aha Copies of letters from Laguna Beach-Santa Ana Stage Line and Santa Aha Bus Line requesting bus stops at various locations, were reade On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, communications were referred to Street Comnissioner and City Engineer to investigate and to work with Traffic Safety Cormnission relative to bus stops Communication was read from Traffic Safety Commission requesting that Council take necessary, action, relative to Railroad Companies blocking highways and obstructing traffic on First, Chestnut and Fourth Streets.. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, Chairman of the Board was instructed to com~aunlcate with Railroa, Commission requesting their cooperation in moving trains within the time limit at First, Chestnut and Fourth Streets. Communication was'read from Chief, Real Estate Division, War Department, Corps of Engineers, advising that Steward W. Ady has been assigned to enter into new negotiations with the City of Santa Aha leading to a settlement which will be satisfactory to both parties, relative to leasesW 50S-eng-l?OB and W S68-eng-A05' covering Community Center buildings, W. 8th Street. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, communication was received, filed and acknowledged and Mayor authorized to communicate with the War Department advising that the City of. Santa Ana cannot accept the repudiation of their former agreements and that L. W. Blodget, ~ttorney, has been appointed to represent the City of Santa Aha to negotiate with them, Copy of communication from Acting Fire Chief, addressed to Civil Service Board, was read, advising of request of W.F.Osborn, hose- man, for three months leave of absence following his vacation pay and also that he be placed on the reemployment list. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chancy and carried, leave of absence was granted subject to Civil Service Ordinance. Copy of communication from Acting Fire Chief addressed to Civil Service Board advi*ing of appointment of Mellow Cluff, as hoseman e~fective February 1st, 1948, to replace W.S.Osborn and that certain other employees have completed additional time of their probationary period, was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Mandy, secbnded by Cheney and carried, appointment was approved subject to Civil Service Ordinance. Copy of communication from 'City Engineer addressed to Asst. State Highway Engineer, was read advising that care and removal of trees could be charged against the maintenance of State Highway routes through the City, and on motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, communication was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, resignation of H.S.Coleman, Pl,.~bing Inspector, effective immediately, was accepted subject to Civil Service Ordinance. Request of Dr. Loman C.'~dams for loading and u_nloading zone at 108 E. 8th St., was read and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, request was referred to Street Commissioner and City Engineer for recommendation. Request of Emil Berta for permission and license to operate amusement rides, such as a minature train, auto car ride, etc., was read. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, the following Ordinance entitled: "Ordinance providing for the licensing, establishment and regulation of amusement centers, fixing conditions and fees therefor, providing a penalty for violation, and repealing Section 40 of Ordinance No. 1158" was introduced, read, considered and placed on file for second reading. The motion made by Trustee Cheney, seconded by Mandy thatthe · req~est, of~:Secretary of Santa Ana City Schools for a cross-walk at Broadway and Santa Clara be received and filed as the work has been performed, was amended by Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried and Clerk to notify Secrgtary that work has bee: completed at Broadway and Santa Clara and also at Broadway and Russell. Motion carried. On.motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, request of Carl M. Heim £or three additional street lights on Bush St. between Santa Clara and Edgewood Road and that concrete walks be constructed beneath Santiago Creek Bridge, w as referred to Street Commissioner and City Engineer for study and recommend- ation. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the two copies of letters addressed to H.M.Neighbour, City Engineer relative to changes in paragraphs 4 and 9 of agreement -fe~~nce of State Highways in Santa Aha were ordered signe, and~approved D~ Mayor and Clerk.
