Council Chamber <br />Santa Ana City Hall <br />August 16th, 1949. 5:00 P.M. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular adjourned session. <br />Meeting called to order by the Clerk. <br /> <br />Present: Trustees <br />Absent: Trustees <br /> <br />W.J.Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler, <br />Allen A. Mandy, Vir.gil H. Reed. <br />R. Carson Smith. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Mandy and <br />carried, Trustee Cheney was appointed Mayor Pro-Tem <br />in the absence of Mayor Smith. <br /> , <br /> <br />In Re On motion of Trustee Chandler, <br />Resol. No. 3832 <br />Adv. for bids <br />Sinking of a 5'x5' <br />shaft around casing <br />of well <br /> <br />seconded by Mandy and carried, <br /> <br />the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br />"Resolution authorizing and directing <br /> the City Clerk to advertise for bids <br /> for the sinking of a 5' x 5' shaft <br /> around a casing of a well, in the City <br /> of Santa Ana, Californiaa and fixing <br /> the prevailing wage rate" <br /> <br />was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 3832 and passed <br /> <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br />In Re <br />Communication <br />Plain. Comm. <br /> <br />Ayes, Trustees <br /> <br />Noes, Trustees <br />Absent, Trustees <br /> <br />Courtney R. Chandler, Allen A. Mandy, <br />Virgil H. Reed, W. J. Cheney. <br />None <br />R. Carson Smith. <br /> <br />Communication was read from Secy. Planning Commission stating <br /> <br />that a hearing will be held on August 22nd, 1949 on application <br /> <br />for a variance upon property described as Lot 11 in Tract No. <br /> <br />being the southwest corner of Flower Street and Anahu~st Place, <br /> <br />permit the establishment of a grocery store, school store, a <br /> <br />building for such use and off-street parking in connection <br /> <br />therewith. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and <br /> <br />carried, communication was received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion Of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, the <br /> <br />City Council adjourned to Mond~y, August 22nd, 19~9, at 2:00 P. Carson Smith. <br />None <br /> ,, <br /> <br /> A petition was read signed by thirty-two residents and property <br /> owners in the vicinity of 6th and Western protesting dancing, <br /> <br />reverly and noise caused by dances held by Our Lady of Guadalupe <br /> <br />Chumch, and on motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and <br /> <br />carried, matter was referred to Chief of Police for investigation <br /> <br />and report. <br /> <br /> <br />
