Council Chamber Santa Ana City Hall August 16th, 1949. 5:00 P.M. City Council met in regular adjourned session. Meeting called to order by the Clerk. Present: Trustees Absent: Trustees W.J.Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler, Allen A. Mandy, Vir.gil H. Reed. R. Carson Smith. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Mandy and carried, Trustee Cheney was appointed Mayor Pro-Tem in the absence of Mayor Smith. , In Re On motion of Trustee Chandler, Resol. No. 3832 Adv. for bids Sinking of a 5'x5' shaft around casing of well seconded by Mandy and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution authorizing and directing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the sinking of a 5' x 5' shaft around a casing of a well, in the City of Santa Ana, Californiaa and fixing the prevailing wage rate" was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 3832 and passed by the following vote: In Re Communication Plain. Comm. Ayes, Trustees Noes, Trustees Absent, Trustees Courtney R. Chandler, Allen A. Mandy, Virgil H. Reed, W. J. Cheney. None R. Carson Smith. Communication was read from Secy. Planning Commission stating that a hearing will be held on August 22nd, 1949 on application for a variance upon property described as Lot 11 in Tract No. being the southwest corner of Flower Street and Anahu~st Place, permit the establishment of a grocery store, school store, a building for such use and off-street parking in connection therewith. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, communication was received and filed. On motion Of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, the City Council adjourned to Mond~y, August 22nd, 19~9, at 2:00 P. M. in the Council Chambers. Meeting called to order by the Mayor. Present: Trustees Absent: Trustees In Re Petition Opposing dances held by Guadalupe Church W.J.Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler, Allen A. Mandy, Virgil H. Reed, R. Carson Smith. None ,, A petition was read signed by thirty-two residents and property owners in the vicinity of 6th and Western protesting dancing, reverly and noise caused by dances held by Our Lady of Guadalupe Chumch, and on motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, matter was referred to Chief of Police for investigation and report.
