In Re Appointment as Mayor A motion was made by Trustee Cheney that Trustee Mandy be appointed as Mayor of the City of Santa Ana. Motion was carried. A motion was made by Trustee Chandler that nominations be closed. Motion was carried. On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Reed and carried, the City Council adJourned. Present: Trustees Absent: Trustees W.J.Cheney, John ~. Martin, Jr., Virgil H. Reed, Allen A. Mandy. U,urtney R. Chandler. Each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes of August 22nd, August 27th and September 2nd, 19&9, further reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried. In Re Bid Repair water well On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, the Clerk was authorized to open the one bid covering repairs to casing in No. ll well, as follows: Bid of Joe W. Morgensen: Item Total "%-- Special condition incorporated and made a part of this proposal: It is hereby understood and agreed that any and all portions of the specifications, especially pertaining to Paragraph (b), Section 6 - PROSECUTION AND PROGRESS, bearing the caption Progres of the Work and Time for Completion, shall be and are hereby amended as follows: "The bidder shall not be required to begin work before November 5, 1949" · On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, bid was referred to City Engineer for checking. On recommendation of the Engineer and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney In Re Hearing date Vacate portions of two unnamed alleys Blk "A" French's Addu. Blk "B" B~ ley's Addn. and carried, bid was tabled until a future date. ,, No written or oral protests having been received, on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by ~lartin and carried, City Attorney was instructed to prepare Resolution to vacate all of that certain alley 14. feet in width in Block "A" of Frenchts Addition, and, all of that portion of a certain unnamed alley in Block "B" of In Re Variance James B. Utt Bailey~ s Addition. The Clerk read communication from Secy. Planning Commission recommending granting of variance to James B. Utt to permit bottling, storage and delivery of carbonated drinks on premises 100' x 400' at the southwest corner of Edinger and Flower Streets now be~goccupied by the Haven Seed Company, under certain conditions. Mrs. Tom Foster, Mrs. Schick and Mrs. A.E.Duckett stated their reasons rom objeCting to granting of this variance. Mr. James B. Utt stated his reasons why this type of business
