On motion of <br /> <br /> Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, petition was <br /> ordered <br /> received, filed and copies/sent to previously appointed committee <br /> <br />An apDllcation was read from~Martha Diehm, Secy-Treas. General <br />Amusement Company requesting permission to establish one merry- <br />go-round and ticket booth at 2122 South Main St~¢et. On motion <br />of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, property was <br />ordered posted and hearing date set for protests am of Sept.' <br />19th, 1949. <br /> <br />Request was read from Manager, Sears-Roebuck & Co. recommending <br />that traffic signals be installed at Main and Berkeley Streets. <br />On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Martin and carried, City <br />Engineer was instructed to write the State Highw~ Department <br />recommendinE that traffic signals be installed at this intersect- <br />ion. <br /> <br />The Chief of Police reported that a gentlemen's agreement had <br />been reached whereby at ?:30 P.M. the ice-cream vendor's would <br />control the sound so that they could not be heard beyond the limi' <br />of two houses, and that at 8:30 P.M. they would discontinue the <br />sound entirely. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin <br />and carried, communications were received, filed and writers <br />advised of action taken. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Ree~l, seconded by Martin and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission that a variance be <br />granted to J. Elmer Preston to permit professional offices at <br />1427 Bush Street,' under certain conditions, was approved and <br />variance granted. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission that a variance be <br />granted to Sidney B. and Elizabeth W. Hickox, to allow decoratiw <br />columns, basic platforms, and eaves on two-story apartment build- <br />ings to extend into the front yard a distance of four feet, in th~ <br />immediate vicinity of 1601 North Flower Street, unde~ certain <br />conditions, was approved and variance granted. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, the <br />variance applications of Henry John and Pauline M. ~eil and <br />Elbert C. Missildine, w~re referred back to the Planning <br />Commission for further study and consideration. <br /> <br /> <br />
