<br /> On recommendation of the Plauning Commission and on motion of
<br /> Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, City Attorney was
<br /> instructed to prepare Ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 896,
<br /> reference set-back line on each side of Washington Avenue from
<br /> Lincoln Avenue to Grand Avenue.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Martin and carried,
<br /> reports of Building Department, Judge's Office, Police Department,
<br /> Juvenile Department, for the month of August, 1949, and Annual
<br /> Report of Park Department for period July l, 1948 to June 30,
<br /> 1949, were received and filed.

<br /> Communication was read from City Engineer suggesting that Council
<br /> acquire
<br />/property from Frank Borchard on St. Gertrudes Place west of

<br /> Street, for street purposes. On motion of Trustee Reed,

<br /> by Martin and carried, Purchasing Agent was instructed to contact
<br /> owner of property and report back at the next meeting.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried,
<br /> Purchasing Agent was instructed to submit $25.00 maximum optt on
<br /> fee to aequire property.
<br />
<br /> 0n~motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried,
<br /> assignments of Milosevich and Zarubica Construction Company and
<br /> S.S.Zarubica to Meriwether Investment Company, Ltd., were acce
<br /> and proper authorities authorized to execute same.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, Mayor
<br /> and Clerk were authorized to execute renewal of Lease No. 9818,
<br /> dated August 15th, 1949, between City and Pacific Electric Ry. Co.
<br /> covering l~cation of a private road crossing over Pacific Elec'
<br /> Railway Company,s Nev~port Beach Line right-of-way at Englneer~s
<br /> Station 1905 ~ 85.38, near the Joint 0utfall Sewer.

<br /> A petition was read from Southern Pacific Railroad Company and
<br /> Southern Pacific Company requesting that a portion of Bro~n
<br /> be closed or abandoned for street purposes. On motion of

<br /> Reed, seconded by M~rtin and carried, petition was referred to
<br /> Planning Commission for recommendation.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, the
<br /> application of Rev. Ruth Prothero, to solicit funds, was denied.
<br /> On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Trustee
<br /> Cheney, seconded by Reed and carried, the following Resolution
<br />
<br />entitled:

<br /> "Resolution Concerning Parking Limitations Under Ordinance No. 1030"
<br />
<br />establishing a no parking zone on the north side of E. 6th St.
<br />between Main and Bush Sts., located as follows: The West 4~ feet
<br />of the East 54~5 feet, was read, considered, designated
<br />
<br />No. 3839 and passed by the following vote:
