Roll Call seconded by Cheney and carried, 1949, between City and Santa Ana approved and Mayor and Clerk Ayes Trustees W.J.Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler, John W. Martin, Jr. Virgil H. Reed, Allen A. Mandy. Noes Trustees None Absent Trustees None On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, the Mayor was authorized to execute Contract N 123s-44643, between the City of Santa Ana and the United States of America covering from the Naval Air Station, Santa Ana, 1949 and continuing in effect until further disposal of sewage beginning July 1st, notice. Mr. Wood appeared before the Council stating he had no objection to establishment of beauty shop at 1002 North Ross Street. ~ motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Reed and carried, variance application of Mary B. Smith was held over until next meeting. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, the variance application of Elmer E. Everett to establish a school and grocery store at the southwest corner of Anahurst Place and Flower Street, was held over until next meeting. ,, On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded bM Martin and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission that a variance be granted to Emma J. Pankey to permit o portion of an existing accessory building in rear of residence to be converted into a single-family dwelling unit and to authorize remodeling of existi~ living quarters in said accessory building into a single-family dwelling unit, thereby creating tm~such units in said building, at yO$ Halladay Street, was approved and variance granted. ,, On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, memo from Auditor setting forth cost estimates for alterations in the Police Department was referred to City Attorney for written ~egal opinion. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids covering the sale 'of city-owned lot located at Broadway and Anahurst Place; bids to be opened October 3rd, 1949. A memo was read from Auditor requesting approval of purchase of two trucks with 12 yard load packer bodies and one tractor with elevating loader. 'On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, the request for two trucks with 12 yard load cormnittee consisting of Trustee Reed repOrt back at the next meeting. seconded by Cheney and carried, packer bodies was referred to Auditor and City Engineer, to ,, On motion of Trustee Chandler, approval was given to purchase the two budgeted items consisting of one truck with load packer body and one tractor.
