Sth St. On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, the request of Martha Die! Secy-Tr~as. of General Amusement Co. to operate a merry-go-round and ticket booth at 2002 So. Main St., was denied. The Chief of Police recommended that a boulevard stop be installe~ at the intersection of East Chestnut and Halladay Sts., and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, recommendation was approved, City Engineer instructed to prepare necessary Resolution and Clerk( to notify first party on petition of Council action. The opinion of the City Attorney was read relative to alterations proposed to be made in the Police Department. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, the Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids for alterations to be made in the Police Department; bids to be opened October 17th, 1949. ~equest was read from Pres. City Employees Association that four delegates be permitted to attend California League of City Employ~ Association Conference to be held in Santa Monica on Oct. 13th and 14th. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, request was granted to the four delegates to attend Conference allowing them time off with pay but denying request for expenses. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, plans and specifications for the installation of toilet facilities on the third floor of the City Hall, were approved. ,, On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids for the installation of toilet facilities on the third floor of the City Hall; bids to be opened October 17th, 19~9. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, Attorney was instructed .to prepare Resolution granting the City employees their request for a forty-hour week, effective from and after October 15th, 1949 and that Payroll Department be notified to make necessary salary increases for the Police and Fire Depart- ments as set out in the agreement.
