Santa Ana City Employees Association, <br /> expressing appreciation for Council action with regard to the <br /> forty-hour week, was received and filed. <br /> <br />The Clerk r~ad communication from Sec~.Planning Conmnission <br />recommending denial of variance application of Bailey and Thelma <br />Krisher to permit off-street parking for patrons of a proposed <br />food market having frontage on Main Street. Royal Hubbard stated <br />his reasons favoring the granting of this variance. Arthur Nisson <br />Attorney, on behalf of protestants who signed petition, opposed <br />the granting of this v~riance. Milton R. Foster stated his reason <br />for opposing this type of business. On motion of Trustee Reed, <br />seconded by Chandler and carried, variance application was tabled <br />until next meeting. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved that a <br />variance be granted to Clyde 0. Bruton to permit an office for <br />general insurance sales and service at ll7 E. llth St, and <br /> <br /> variance granted. <br />,, <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission to deny variance app- <br />lication of Elmer E. Everett to establish a school and grocery <br />store at the southwest corner of Anahurst Place and Flower St., <br />was upheld and variance denied. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br /> <br />Map Tract No. 1337 covering street improvements on Washington and <br />English Streets, was approved. On motion of Trustee Reed, <br />seconded by Martin and carried, bond submitted by Orco, Inc., in <br />the amount of $3,000.00, was referred to the Asst. City Attorney <br />for checking. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and <br /> <br />carried, bond was accepted~ <br />,, <br />Mrs. Mateer, 216 Cypress appeared before the Council requesting <br />that street lights be installed in the alley known as Court Street <br />On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of Trustee <br />Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, street lights were ordered <br />installed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission that a variance be grant <br />to Mrs. Ida Boyd to permit a women's ready-to-wear shop in the <br />living, dining and music rooms of the existing residence at 210 <br />~qo. Broadway, upon certain conditions, was upheld and variance <br />~ranted. <br /> <br /> <br />
