Carson Smith, Mayor, was elected Honorary <br />Chairman of the Civic Beautification Committee, was received and <br />filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, <br />communication from Chamber of Commerce recommending that use of <br />City owned parking lot be regulated by the me~ns of parking meter: <br />with the meter heads set for two hours for five cents, or four <br />hours for ten cents, and that City can adequately black-top and <br />provide lines for parking spaces, was received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, City <br />Engineer was authorized to black-top the City owned parsing lot <br />and make other necessary improvements; expenditures for improve- <br />ments to be made from the Parking Meter Fund. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, <br />statement of condition of funds of the City of Santa Ana, for the <br />period ending December 31st, 1948, submitted by Diehl and Co., <br /> <br />was received and filed. <br />,, <br />Communication was read from E.T.McFadden advising that California <br />Avocado Society will hold its Thirty-Fourth Annual meeting on <br />June ~th and suggesting that City make provision for parking <br />facilities for those attending. On motion of Trustee Mandy, <br />seconded by Reed and carried, Police Department was instructed <br />to reserve parking facilities for persons attending the Meeting, <br />on City owned parking lot, W. 3rd Street. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />recommendation of Forestry Board that Park Supt. attend National <br />Shade Tree Conference Western Chapter, at Sacramento, May 28th <br /> <br />to 28th incl., was granted. <br />,, <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, <br />request of Rev. Braulis Balina, Pastor, Our Lady of Guadalupe <br />Church for cross-walk at 3rd and Grand, better street lighting, <br />and a slow sign for Sunday services from 7 to 12, was referred <br />to committee of Trustee Cheney and Engineer for recommendation <br /> <br /> and report back. <br />,, <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />request of American Legion Laguna Beach Post No. 222 for permissi( <br />to park a car on the street for purpose of raising funds for a <br />new club house, was denied. <br /> <br />Messrs.
