<br />Coz~nuntcation was read from Santa Aha Furniture Co. requesting
<br />permission to lease parking space on back of City owned parking
<br />lot. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and
<br />
<br />carried, communication was received, filed and Clerk instructed to
<br />notify Santa Ana Furniture Co. that no special consideration is to
<br />be given any individual so far as parking facilities are concerned
<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, request
<br />
<br />of Electrical Products to hang an over-size Neon sign at lOlO S.
<br />
<br />Main St., was tabled until next meeting.

<br />Cormnunication was re~d from Chairman, Civic Center Committee,
<br />
<br />recommending that an appropriation of $3000.00 be set in the budge~
<br />for the purpose of engaging a technician to draw plans for propose,
<br />Civic Center, and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and
<br />carried, recommendation was approved.

<br />Communication was read from City Engineer requesting that a portiol
<br />of the Walnut Street Yard now used by the Park Dept. for horseshoe
<br />
<br />court, etc., be returned to the Street and Water Depts., so that
<br /> may
<br />sheds/be built to house the equipment. On motion of Trustee
<br />
<br />Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, request was referred to
<br />committee for recommendation. Chairman appointed Trustees
<br />Chandler, Reed and City Attorney, as committee.

<br />Communication was read from Pres. City Employees' Assoc. request-
<br />ing that Council adopt a five day work week for employees. On
<br />motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Mandy and carried, request
<br />was referred to Council, as a whole, for study and recommendation.
<br />Communication was read from City Engineer requesting authority to
<br />hire a typist, on a temporary basis, and an Engineer. On motion
<br />of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, request was
<br />granted and tenative salary of Engineer set at $300.00 per month,
<br />as first step in salary range.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried,
<br />notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic
<br />beverage applications made by L.C.Gilbert and Stanley Johnston,
<br />613 W. 17th St., Dean M. Greenig and Edward M. May, 902 E. 4th St
<br />and Lloyd W. Lile, Jr. Ell No. Bristol St., were received and fil,
<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried,
<br />applications of Victor PaPilla, Dale J. Ferguson, Richard W.Maxwel
<br />and Joseph C. Castro, to drive taxicabs were granted ~and permits
<br />ordered issued.
