On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, final report as called for in the contract with Pitometer Co. Inc., covering Waste Water Survey was filed and their 10% retention, in the amount of $467.9~, was ordered paid. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, the City Engineer was instructed to write the Metropolitan Water District requesting credit on unused water, due to defective meter, or refund on-overpayment in accordance with report submitte, ,b,y Pitometer Co. !nc. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, Mayor and Clerk were authorized to execute agreement between City of Santa Ana and City of Newport Beach covering cost of sterilization of its sewage effluent delivered to the Joint Outfall Sewer; by the City of Newport Beach. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, Mayor and Clerk were a~thorized to .execute agreement between City of Santa Ana and Orange Coast Junior College District providing for the rental of the Joint Outfall Sewerage facilities. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Mandy and carried, the recormmendation of the Planning Commission that a variance be granted to Dr. Charles V. Doty to permit general offices and offices of persons engaged in professions and semi-professions in the existing building at VOV Bush St., was approved and vari-ance srant ed. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, the report of the Fire Chief on Annual Meeting of National Fire Protection Association, was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, the reques~c of Pres. Santa Ana Ftremen's Benevolent Association, for permission to use the Municipal Bowl on July 4, 1949, for display of fireworks, was granted. On motion-of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, request of Asst. Fire Chief, E.C.Gates for one year's leave of absence, due to illness, was referred to Fire Chief Garthe for recommendat ion. Co~uunication was read from Secy. Chamber of Commerce recommending that. enforcement of parking and traffic Ordinances should be performed by the Police Dept., and on motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, communication was received and filed On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, Mayor wes authorized to execute escrow instructions in connection with easement for right-of-way to be given by Roy C. Bogardus on Towner St. between Russell and Borchard, for street purposes. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler, communication, from Ernest P. Tumner complaining about various matters, was received and filed.
