On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, the requests were denied by the following vote: AYES TRUSTEES-Allen A. Mandy, Virgil H. Reed, R. Carson NOES TRUSTEES W. J. ABSENT TRUSTEES None On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, the report of the committee on advertising benches was referred to ~rustee Cheney to study and report at the next meeting. nd carried, On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed?~he Mayor was authorized to appoint a committee to prepare a suitable Ordinance for sale of surplus property of the City. The City Attorney, Auditor and Engineer were appointed as committee. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler it was ordered that the Ordinance be presented at the next meeting. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried,the request was read of the Mexican Welfare Assn. of Orange County for use of Municipal Bowl on the afternnon of July 24th to stage a benefit show presenting band Concert by the Our Lady of Talpa Church Bmod. Due to the fact that this is a religious show was made a motion/~y Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried,that ~ermit for use of bowl be granted without payment of License fee. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and csrried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and the variance of John W. Busch to permit use of an existing garage house at ~1~ E. Myrtle St. was granted. On motion of Trustee Chandler, secondedY~andy and carried,the request of ttarold Johnson,architect, was grsnted for permission to construct the footings under sidewalks for building to be occupied by the ~ayfair Market ~nd Rexell Drug Store at the northwest corner of Commercial and Main Street, providing the Bldg. Inspector includes in the permit issued a condition that the City will be forever released of any liability or requirement to maintain lateral supports for such encroaching footings under the sidewalk~. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried,co~uunica ion of Ernest P. Turner, lOl~ E. Chestnut St., City,demanding restitution of fees expended relative to house rental was received and placed on file. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried,contract for purchase of garbage was awarded to John & Jimmie K'azaroff for a period of S years, based on hog market quotations with provision that a $5,000.00 faitb~u! performance bcnd is filed; and the Attorney instructed to prepare contract. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the City Engineer was authorized to construct a retaining wall and ramp for the transfer~ng of garbage to buyers truck at the northeasterly corner of the City dump.
