Public Works Increase speed limit Grand Ave. In Re of Re ~lication On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed ~nd carried, communication from Tax Collector advising of sale by public -auction of tax deeded Lot No. 35 in Fairlawn Park Tract, was received and filed. # On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, communication from Mrs. A.C.Eeck protesting any change in garbage collection, was received and filed. # Communication was read from Building Inspector advising that according to 1949 Edition of Uniform Building Code a Board of Examiners and Appeals shall be set up and submitting list of name of persons to be appointed. On motion of Trustee Chandler,' seconded by Martin and carried, communication was filed and Mayor authorized to make appointments. Chairman appointed La Vern Means, S.F.Sorensen, Sld Low~y, Tom Moore and John Colwell, to serve on such Board. # Communication was r~ad from Orange County Water District request- ing extension of lease for five years, from January 31st, 1950, on Rooms 222, 223 and 224 at 1104 West Eighth Street. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, communication was filed and lease extended to the end of the option period, which is two years from Febx~aa~y 1st, 1950 and proper authoritie authorized to execute lease. None W.J.Cheney Communication and order from Division of Highways to Chief of Police and letter of City Engineer were read, with reference to order and notification of Division of Highways increasing speed limit from 25 to 35 miles per hour on Grand Avenue, from Mile 1.189, a point on the north property line of East First Street, to Mile 1.689, a point 660 feet south of the south property line of Grace Street. A motion was made by Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, that the City Council officially protest the order of the Division of Highways to change the speed from 25 to 35 miles per hour on said Street. It was moved by Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and Carried, that Trustee Chandler be appointed to take up the matter of encroachment of the State Hi way Department into cities, particularly this City, and letter appointing him as such be given to Trustee Chandler and copy fom~a~ded to League of California Cities. # On motion of Tx-ustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, toque of .Veterans of Foreign Wars for permission to show a special exhibit 1regarding rare animals at the corner of 4th and Main Streets on Dec. 29, 30 and 31st, was granted. On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, the application of Wm. D. Cathcart to drive taxicab was granted and permit ordered issued. #
