On motion of Trustee Chandler,' <br /> seconded by Martin and carried, communication was filed and Mayor <br /> authorized to make appointments. Chairman appointed La Vern <br /> Means, S.F.Sorensen, Sld Low~y, Tom Moore and John Colwell, to <br /> <br /> serve on such Board. <br /> # <br /> <br /> Communication was r~ad from Orange County Water District request- <br /> ing extension of lease for five years, from January 31st, 1950, <br /> on Rooms 222, 223 and 224 at 1104 West Eighth Street. Mandy. <br />None <br />W.J.Cheney <br /> <br />Communication and order from Division of Highways to Chief of <br />Police and letter of City Engineer were read, with reference to <br />order and notification of Division of Highways increasing speed <br />limit from 25 to 35 miles per hour on Grand Avenue, from Mile <br />1.189, a point on the north property line of East First Street, <br />to Mile 1.689, a point 660 feet south of the south property line <br />of Grace Street. A motion was made by Trustee Reed, seconded by <br />Chandler and carried, that the City Council officially protest <br />the order of the Division of Highways to change the speed from 25 <br />to 35 miles per hour on said Street. It was moved by Trustee <br />Martin, seconded by Reed and Carried, that Trustee Chandler be <br />appointed to take up the matter of encroachment of the State Hi <br />way Department into cities, particularly this City, and letter <br />appointing him as such be given to Trustee Chandler and copy <br /> <br />fom~a~ded to League of California Cities. <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Tx-ustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, toque <br />of .Veterans of Foreign Wars for permission to show a special <br />exhibit 1regarding rare animals at the corner of 4th and Main <br />Streets on Dec. 29, 30 and 31st, was granted. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, the <br />application of Wm.
