On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and carried, the check from the Southern Counties Gas Company in the amount of ~6,381.49 covering franchise tax for the year 1944, was received and ordered deposited. On notion of Trustee ~eckert, seconded by Cheney and car- ried, the Chairman and Clerk were instructed to sign Notice of Renewal of Lease No. W-509-eng-15~9 for the period July 1st, 1945 to June 30th, 1946, on the Military Reservation, Air Corps Replacement Center, U.S. Army Air Corps, return- ing three copies and retaining one copy for the Clerk's files. A communication from H.M. Neighbour, City Engineer, was rea% with reference to paving driveway for the owner of property at the corner of Chestnut and McClay Streets and submitting bill covering work with check attached in amoun~ of $188.00 from Carlyle Dennis, owner of property. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon and carrie~, the communication of H.~. Neighbour was received and filed and check of Carlyle D~nnis ordered deposited in the funds of the City of Santa Ana. On motion of Trustee Dixon, the monthly reports of H.P. seconded by Deckert and carrie8 Poundmaster, Picketing/for January snd Feb- ruary, Harold Rasmussen, Bldg. Inspector, and Judge R.~. Crookshank for February, were received and filed. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and car- ried, the monthly demands audited by the Finance Committee were approved and Clerk authorized to draw warrants cover- ing demands numbering 1653 to 18~9 inclusive. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and car- tied, the claim for damages of Mrs. R. Mead, 14V2 S. ~iaple Street, for alleged injuries sustained on February 8th, 1945, while walking south on the sidewalk Just opposite No. 1~25 S. Maple Street,was received and refer~ed to the City _~uditor, who in turn shall refer it to the insurance carrier of the City of Santa Anao Due to increased pressure from his b~siness and the help situation being difficult, Councilman Dale G.
