On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Haan and carried, notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic beverage applicatlonm made by Kenneth E. Franks, 1502 No. Main St., and American Legion, Post #151, 51Z No. Birch St., were received and filed. ,, On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Dixon and carried, applications of Charles Patton, George J. Hock, Richard H. Snodgrass, Robert J. Mead, Donald E. Maxwell, Audie H. Holbert, Ralph M. Fanning and Willlam Edgar McFarren, to drive taxicabs were granted and Clerk authorized to issue licenses. On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Deckert and carried, request of Otto R. Haan for permission to leave the State for the period July lVth to August 2$th, 1946, was granted. On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Deckert and carried, request of Bob Skiles for permission to conduct public dances at Third and Ross Ballroom, beginning Saturday, July 1Zth, 1~48, and every Saturday night thereafter, was granted. On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and carried, request of S.~.Patterson for permission to cut the curb, build driveway s~d r~build sidewalk at 808 W. 4th St., was referred to the City Engineer to report back at the next meeting. A petition si.%~ned by fifteen tenants of the Palm Apts. at McFadden and Cypress Sts., protesting exorbitant increase in rents, was read and on motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and carried, petition was received and placed on file. A petition signed by nine property owners in the vicinity of ~¥ashingtou and Sycamore Sts., supporting and approving variance of James R. Nunn to conduct a restaurant business at the northwest corner of Washington Avenue and Sycamore Street, was received and filed, on motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carried. Communication from Cox Bros. Constr~ctIon Co. stating they propose to construct the Portland cement sidewalks required to complete the construction on the contract now held by them for the paving of No. Wlower St. between lSth and 17th Sts., at the unit price per cubic yard of ii~26.00 including the removal of excess earth involved by the addition of this item of work, was read.
