No. 3442 Giving Notice of Proposed Annexation of Territory to City of Santa Ana In Re Employment City Planner On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carried, check from the Southern Counties Gas Co. in th~ amount of $6,305.31 covering franchise tax for 1945 and check from the Southern California Edison Co. Ltd. in the amount of $4,553.84 covering franchise tax for 1948 were referred to the Auditor for checking and deposit. ,. Communication from Chief of Police requesting an add- itional ten men and two women for the Police Department was read and on motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and carried, matter was referred to the Police Commissioner for study and discussion with the Chief of Police and to report back at the next meeting. A petition was presented signed by approximately 1BO merchants and property ovmers on South Main St., request lng that all trees and shrubbery in the parking areas on South Main St. be removed or eliminated. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and carried, petition was referred to the Forestry Board for study and to report back at the next meeting. ,, On recommendation of the Taxicab Committee and on motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and carried, J.K. Haynes and W.M.Lam were granted permission to operate the Lo Fare Cab Company at 522 Bush Street within the limitations of their application. Residents and property owners in the area proposed to be annexed southeast of the City of Santa Ana appeared before the Council requesting information as to advantages and disadvantages of being annexed to the Cit of Santa Ana. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution Giving Notice of Proposed Annexation of Territory to the City of Santa Aha" setting forth the hearing date as of April 1st, 1948, was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 3442 and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees Dale G. Deckert, Otto R. Haan, Noes, Trustees Absent, Trustees W.J.Cheney, Asa Hoffman. None W.
