The Contractor shall immediately respect the written order of the <br /> Superintendent of Streets to suspend operations wholly, or on any particular section. <br /> SECTION 20. PROTECTION OF WORir AND CLEANING UP. <br /> The Contractor shall care for all work until final completion and acceptance. He shall <br /> re?air all damage which he does to existing improvements, lie shall remove all surplus <br /> material and rubbish from the work after its completion, and before he makes application <br /> for the acceptance of the work. <br /> <br /> SECTION 21, DEFECTIVE WORK. <br /> No work which is defective in its construction or deficient in any of the requirements <br /> of these specifications will be considered as accepted in consequence of the failure of any <br /> employee of the City, or inspector connected with thc work, to point out said defects or <br /> deficiency during construction. The Contractor shall correct any imperfect work which <br /> is discovered before the final acceptance of the work. <br /> <br /> SECTION 22. PRESERVATION OF PROPERTY. <br /> Thc Contractor shall prevent the damaging of any property along the lines of work, <br /> except that which is noted on the plans or designated by thc instructions of thc Superin- <br /> tendent of Streets for removal or destruction. This applies to both public and private <br /> property, and whenever such property is damaged, due to the activities of the Contractor, <br /> it shall be immediately restored to its original condition. <br /> <br /> SECTION 25. LOSS OR DAMAGE. <br /> All loss or damage arising from any unforseen obstructions or difficulties, either natural <br /> or artificial, which may be encountered in the prosecution of the work, or from any action <br /> of the elements prior to the final acceptance of the work, or from any unauthorized act or <br /> omission on the part oi the Contractor or any agent or person employed by him, shall be <br /> sustained by the Contractor. <br /> <br /> SECTION 24. pUBLIC UTILITIES. <br /> In case it should be necessary to move the property of any owner of a public utility <br /> or franchise, such owner will, upon proper apF~licatlon by the Contractor, be notified by <br /> the Superintendent of Streets to move such property within a specified reasonable time, <br /> and the Contractor shall not interfere with said property until after the explraion of the <br /> time specified. <br /> The right is reserved to the owners of public utilities or franchises to enter upon the <br /> street for the purpose of making repairs, or changes in their l;~'operty that may be made <br /> necessary by the work. The City shall also have the privilege of entering upon the street <br /> for the purpose of repairing sewers, water pipes, or other pipes or conduits, or making <br /> house connections therewith, or repairing culverts or storm drains. <br /> The Contractor shall notify thc Superintendent of Streets in writing, when the rough <br /> grading of the roadway has been completed. During the ten (10) days after the filing of <br /> this notice with the Superintendent of Streets, the City, or any owner of a public utility, <br /> shall have the right to enter upon the street for the purpose of laying or relaying pipes, <br /> conduits and appurtenances. <br /> During the construction, should the Contractor find any sewers or house connections <br /> of any kind located in any place that is to be occupied by some portion of the work which <br /> is to be constructed under his contract, or which interfere with any trench or tunnel <br /> necessary to the prosecution of the work, unless otherwise indicated on the plans, he shall <br /> not disturb said sewers or connections until he obtains a permit in writing to do so. <br /> SECTION 25. CENTRAL CONCRISTE MIXING PLANT. <br /> All concrete mixed at a central mixing plant shall comply with all oi the requirements, <br /> as hereinafter specified for that particular kind of work in which it is to be used, with <br /> 2--4 <br /> <br /> <br />
